To the Burr Ridge Community,

Fall is in full swing and this weekend, we fall back as daylight savings ends. Though the sun may be setting sooner, it does not stop us from enjoying all that this season brings to the Village. During this month of gratitude, we reflect on the brave and honorable service of our Veterans and fallen heroes. We also look forward to the beloved holiday event, Deck the Green, on November 18th, where we invite you and your families to ring in the holiday season with us and light up the Village Green like never before.

It’s time to make your voices heard! We encourage you to get out and vote on November 8th. Please visit the homepage for the county you reside, DuPage County or Cook County, for more detailed voter information.

As we all prepare for Thanksgiving and the season of giving and gifting, there are numerous opportunities to support our local Burr Ridge Village shops and restaurants. We are lucky to have a variety of quality and unique businesses located in our area and we invite you to shop small and support local this holiday season.

We hope you can take time to reflect on what you are thankful for this year, as we are immensely grateful for you!

Sincerely,

Mayor Gary Grasso

Proper Fall Leaf Disposal

Help us keep leaves out of the streets, prevent them from clogging storm drains, and protect our lakes and streams by disposing of leaves properly this fall! Residents receive free weekly landscape waste collection at no charge until December 15th through Groot. Over the next six to eight weeks in curbs and ditches, leaves will build up and block storm drains, which can lead to minor flooding. In addition, leaves leach phosphorous into the stormwater runoff when they decompose, which can cause algal blooms and harm aquatic life.

Help avoid these issues by keeping leaves off the street and then composting, bagging, or mulching them with those in your yard. Learn more here

Lock it or Lose it
Keeping the Village of Burr Ridge safe is a top priority! Delaying a burglar for even a short time is usually enough to prevent entry into a house, apartment, or vehicle. Criminals are targeting areas where they know residents are leaving doors unlocked. Home, garage, and vehicle doors should always be locked. An unlocked vehicle in the driveway may give burglars access to your home via a garage door opener or keys left in the vehicle. Protect your home by locking your vehicle!

Mail & Package Reminders

In preparation for the holidays, The Burr Ridge Police Department would like to provide the following recommendations from the US Postal Services that residents and business owners can take to protect their mail/packages from theft:

  • Promptly pick-up mail
  • Deposit mail close to pick-up times
  • Inquire about overdue mail
  • Don't send cash
  • Arrange for prompt pick-up
  • Use hold for pick-up
  • Request signature confirmation
Anyone with information regarding mail theft is asked to contact the Burr Ridge Police Department Investigations Bureau at 630-323-8181.
