Welcome to the Theme of Change
All Souls Day - The Dead Have a Pact With the Living

Led By Rev. Dr. Michelle Walsh

Our mission at First Parish Church in Taunton is to
Inspire, Connect, and Serve.

For our annual All Souls Day service, we will consider the ways in which those we have lost remain with us, our continuing bonds with them, and how they have shaped us and influenced us beyond purely memory, even in physical ways. Come early and bring a picture or memento of those you have lost (including fur family members), and plan to sign our memorial altar cloth with a message as well.

This Sunday in Youth Faith Formation
This week our Chalice Children and our Youth Group will each begin to explore our new theme of CHANGE. This Sunday, each group will once again explore our annual youth All Souls Day ritual of gathering fallen leaves and creating a memory tree to honor a person, pet, or thing that they have lost and are morning. **Please be sure to send your kids with a coat as it may be chilly out**

Childcare Attendant: Emily Keegan
Leading Chalice Children: Bri LaBrie
Leading Youth Group: Holly Morehouse

First Friday Social Justice Film Discussion with the Minister
Friday, Nov. 4th
6 pm in the Minister's Office

For October and November, we've been exploring learning about indigenous history through film in preparation for those of you who might like to join Rev. Dr. Michelle Walsh and her husband, Rev. Dr. Clyde Grubbs, who is of Texas Cherokee heritage, at the Day of Mourning in Plymouth on Thanksgiving Day. We also are deepening into this learning as part of our board's strategic planning for learning more about Taunton's relationship with the Wampanoag people. In October, we watched a film about the Indian Board School experience here in the U.S., and on Friday, Nov. 4th, at 6 PM in the minister's office, we'll view a powerful 60-minute documentary about how the Wampanoag people have begun to reclaim their language, "We Still Live Here," after centuries of oppression and loss. Come enjoy stimulating conversation, snacks, and drinks in a warm office space. If childcare is needed, reach out to Rev. Michelle at  michelle@revmichellewalsh.com. It's good to let Rev. Michelle know if you're coming so, we can ensure adequate space too.
All Ages Faith at Home: The Spiritual Practice Gratitude

A spiritual practice is an activity you do regularly that helps you feel spiritually connected or fulfilled. A spiritual practice is a time to focus on being the kind of person you wish to be and a way to take a "time-out" from the regular hustle and bustle of our days. This month we invite folks of all ages to practice Gratitude: "the act of feeling and communicating appreciation for the people, circumstances and material possessions in our lives." By actively and intentionally communicating our appreciation, we are able to connect with the larger web of life around us and cherish our present in ways that make us feel in abundance rather than deprived.

This month we invite everyone into The Spiritual Practice of Gratitude by participating in 30 days of Gratitude. Click the button below for 30 different Gratitude Acts for both kids and adults, as well as a 30 minute Gratitude Yoga Video.

Adult Faith Formation: Fall Soul Matters

Reminder Soul Matters is meeting this Thursday from 6-8 pm, and we will be sharing and exploring the spiritual exercises we each chose.

For those unfamiliar, our Soul Matters group is a wonderful way to participate in a spiritual practice that takes us beyond the question of “What do you think?” and invites us into the deeper one of “Where are you willing to let your faith take you?” If you have any questions or are interested in joining, please reach out to the group facilitators, Lori McNally or April Rosario.

Updates from the Matthew Mission Food Pantry

This past week with the generous help of volunteers, our Matthew Mission Food Pantry Managers, Norm and Emily, were able to move, expand, and improved the space of our food pantry. With a larger space and new extended hours (9:30 - 11:30 am), we will be able to help our ever-expanding customer's needs. We greatly appreciate all the people here who have supported this effort with donations, volunteering, collecting from neighbors, and spreading the word. It really makes a difference in people's lives. We accept donations Tuesday - Thursday during church office hours (9 am-1 pm), every Saturday morning during Pantry hours, and Sunday Mornings during church via a donation box in the sanctuary.

In addition to canned and boxed food, our visitors would appreciate cooking oil, coffee, juice boxes, diapers, period products, toilet tissue, toothpaste, and shampoo.
Final Day of the Market

This Sunday is the final day of the 2022 Farmers Market. Please be sure to stop by 9 am -12 pm and grab your last baked goodies, salt rubs, honey, jams, pickles, fresh fruits, and veggies! We accept SNAP/HIP, WIC, and Senior Coupons, cash, and card.
