Washington County libraries have something for patrons of all ages whether you’re 9 months or 99 years old. And there's no shortage of offerings for older adults and those caring for a friend or relative. Check out this list, for something is sure to catch your eye (regardless of your age)!

How to D&D: Creating Your Character

Have you been dreaming of playing the ultimate duel-wielding Bugbear sorcerer, or something equally fun and amazing? In this first session of our four-part series on how to play Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, we cover how to create a character for gameplay and decipher your character sheet. Registration required online here

How to D&D: D&D Basics for Beginners
Saturday, November 19 | 1-3pm | Adults & Teens Ages 11+ | Cedar Mill Library

Curious about Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition, but overwhelmed by the mountain of books and not sure where to start? Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to D&D. Learn about the game's core concepts, figure out what you'll need to play, and get an overview of the basic rules. Registration Required online here.

Tech Open Lab
Fall Session: Tuesdays, November 8, November 22, December 13 | 1-3pm | Cedar Mill Library

Need help getting started with e-books, adding an app to your smartphone or updating your email contacts? Volunteers will be available at Open Lab to answer questions. Bring your own computer, tablet, cellphone or e-reader with you to get assistance or use one of our laptops to practice.


Drop-in sessions, no registration is required, but there is limited space each session.

Family Storytime
Bethany Library Annex: Tuesdays, 3:30-4pm & Thursdays, 10:30-11am
Cedar Mill Library: Wednesdays & Thursdays, 10:30-11am

Join us for stories, rhymes, songs and movement! 

Registration is not required, but space is limited. We appreciate families choosing only one storytime per week.

Community Art Project
Starting Friday, November 4 | All Ages | Cedar Mill & Bethany Libraries

Everyone can be a part of the Library's art! Cedar Mill Library is assembling an art project created by the people of Cedar Mill and Bethany! Beginning on Friday, November 4, kits will be available at both locations with supplies, instructions and examples of this community project. Kits will also be available through the month of November or until our project is complete.
Spanish Conversation Hour
Wednesday, November 9 | 6:30-7:30pm | Cedar Mill Library

Want to practice your Spanish with other language learners? Join us for a Spanish language conversation hour every second Wednesday of the month from August through December. The conversation hour is not an instructional course but rather a great opportunity to chat and improve your Spanish language skills through facilitated conversation. 

¿Desea practicar su español con otros estudiantes de idiomas? Únase a nosotros para una hora de conversación en español cada segundo miércoles del mes de agosto a diciembre. La hora de la conversación no es un curso de instrucción sino más bien una gran oportunidad de chatear y mejorar sus habilidades del idioma español a través de la conversación facilitada. 
Medicare 101

Join Michelle Hernandez from Health Plans in Oregon as she goes over the basics of Medicare, what parts are right for you, and how to enroll. There will be plenty of time for questions at the end.

Home Front Heroines: The Women Who Built America’s Arsenal of Democracy
Thursday, November 17 | 6:30-7:30pm | Cedar Mill Library

When men went off to war, women stepped from homes into factories to make the ships, planes, armament and vehicles that enabled America to win World War II and become a postwar superpower. Join author and historian Sig Unander for a presentation of this unforgettable story.

Teen Game Night: Super Smash Tourney
Friday, November 18 | 6-7:30pm | Ages 10-18 | Cedar Mill Library

Compete in our Smash Bros Tournament. Meet your friends and play console games together. Switch, Wii and Gamecube games are available. Tournament participants will be required to use library controllers and library console.  Please clearly label any controls that you bring from home.

Felt Sewing Craft
Saturday, November 19 | 10:30-11:30am | Ages 8+ | Cedar Mill Library

Make a felt pocket mouse to take home. 

 
Thanks to everyone who came out to our Hispanic Heritage Month cooking classes and learned how to make tortillas and chicken tinga with Araceli de la Cruz.

The Association is the governing entity that operates the Cedar Mill and Bethany Community Libraries, Second Edition Resale Shop, and our ongoing Book Sale. Be an ambassador for reading and lifelong learning in our community. Board meets third Tuesday of each month. Second Edition Resale Shop helps fund our libraries. Be part of their success! Cashier position Saturday, 9:30am-1pm.
