SWF Highlight: The Mindful SEA Translator

12 November, Saturday, 7pm to 10pm (SGT) | Asian Civilisations Museum, Demonstration Room | $25, $20 for SWF Festival Pass holders, students and seniors.

Discover the nuances and sensitivities of translating with Nguyễn An Lý, who has translated Margaret Atwood, Kazuo Ishiguro, and poetry from The Lord of the Rings from English to Vietnamese. She has also received the PEN Translates award for translating Thuận's Chinatown from Vietnamese to English.

Whether you are translating Southeast Asian literature for an English audience, or English literature for a Southeast Asian audience, you can count on An Lý's insight to help you develop your work with accuracy and sensitivity.

SWF Highlight: An SWF Tribute to Mohamed Latiff Mohamed

20 November, Sunday, 11am to 12.30pm (SGT) | The Arts House, Chamber | Free Admission.

SWF pays tribute to the late literary pioneer Mohd Latiff Mohd in this special programme. The Cultural Medallion recipient and three-time Singapore Literature Prize winner sadly passed away recently at the age of 72. Join us as we celebrate Cikgu Latiff’s life and works through his poetry, music and a sharing on his books.

Co-organised by Dr Azhar Ibrahim, Malay Language Council of Singapore and Singapore Book Council.

Literary Translation Workshop

It consists of online video courses and an in-person workshop with Shelly Bryant, who is a literary translator and the managing director of Tender Leaves Translation, a language services company that trains translators.

Cut your teeth on in-depth video coursework and get your brain jucies flowing in the workshop where you will receive professional and peer review feedback for your translation.
