Opportunities to Advocate

THIS IS OUR TIME:  BE HEARD, BE COUNTED.

The U.S. Trans Survey is the largest survey of trans people, by trans people, in the United States. The USTS documents the lives and experiences of trans and nonbinary people ages 16+ in the U.S. and U.S. territories.

USTS reports have been a vital resource, including the reports on the experiences of people of color and reports by state. In 2015, nearly 28,000 people took the USTS. A lot has happened since then – and it’s time to conduct the USTS again in 2022.

Help us continue to be the largest, most diverse sample across all identities. Please spread the word to ensure that people of color, older people, those who live in rural areas, immigrants, Spanish speakers, those who are HIV+, and others hear about the survey. More than ever, it's important to ensure that trans voices will shape the future.

Please encourage every transgender person you know to complete the survey at https://www.ustranssurvey.org/ !!!!

So, you thought Colorado was a "safe" state?
Tell the State Board of Education to restore the standards

Every student should have an honest, inclusive, and comprehensive education. There have been new revisions made to the Social Studies standards beyond what the Social Studies Standards Review Committee recommended, and the Colorado Education Association does not believe that these newer revisions reflect our values as we believe that the standards should be inclusive, transparent, and comprehensive for all students.

On November 10th and 11th, the State Board of Education will meet to decide whether to accept the original social studies standards that were brought forward by a committee of practitioners, many of whom are our members and members of the larger colorado community (i.e. parents and additional stakeholders), or the new revisionsWe are urging you to send a message to the State Board of Education and ask them to accept the revisions put forth by the social studies review committee that are inclusive of HB1192.

Please take one minute to send a letter to the Colorado State Board of Education to tell them to support inclusive social studies standards.

Tomorrow Will Be Different by Sarah McBride

EVERY. DAY. MATTERS.
But I remain as hopeful as ever that tomorrow will be different.
- Sarah McBride, US Senator representing the State of Delaware, who also happens to be transgender

Informative, heartbreaking, and profoundly empowering, "Tomorrow Will Be Different" is Sarah McBride's* story of love and loss and a powerful entry point into the LGBTQ community's battle for equal rights and what it means to be openly transgender. From issues like bathroom access to health care to gender in America, McBride* weaves the important political and cultural milestones into a personal journey that will open hearts and change minds. As McBride* urges: "We must never be a country that says there's only one way to love, only one way to look, and only one way to live."
* Sarah is the highest-ranking transgender elected official in United States history
