Mushrooms, mushrooms everywhere...

...nor any fungi to eat (unless of course you know your mushrooms and check very carefully!).

Mushroom season has been absolutely splendid this year. Cooler, wetter weather + shorter days = bumper crops of some of nature’s most fascinating specimens.

Poor Ellie has had to endure many a stilted walk of late, as Matt stops to take yet more photos!

Living North Christmas Fair Newcastle, 2022

And that’s the first Christmas fair done!

Living North’s Christmas Fair at Newcastle Racecourse was a huge success.

Matt’s latest painting, The Ouseburn, was ready for the fair, and proved to be very popular.

Living North Christmas Fair York, 2022

And no sooner is one over, but preparation begins for the next!

Matt will be exhibiting at the next Living North Christmas Fair at York Racecouse, Thursday 10^th – Sunday 13^thNovember.

Tickets are available for sale now online; if you book in advance, you get it slightly cheaper than the price on the door on the day.

And if you were one of the lucky ones who received one of Matt’s complimentary tickets, do pop along and say hi over the weekend.

What do artists do all day?

#11: eat, sleep, work, repeat.

Or in Matt’s case: print, frame, frame some more. Oh, and pack the van, drive somewhere, set up, smile, sell some paintings, smile again, pack up, drive home, unpack the van.

With all of the shows at the moment, life can feel a touch repetitive for Matt. But! What keeps him going is the face-to-face selling; the last two years have been particularly difficult for everybody in the arts and creative sector, and whilst sales continued through the website, there was a real sense of loss of the human interaction shows bring. It’s good to have the craic!

So, if you see Matt at one of his upcoming shows, do say hello!
