This Weeks Prayer Points
Ukraine/Russia: Continue prayer for the people of Kherson. Many have been evacuated by the Russians ahead of Ukraine advances. Pray that the dam will not be breached. In Kyiv, there are frequent black-outs. Pray for all those who are affected by these, including children who are learning by light from mobile phones. 40% of Ukraine's energy systems has been destroyed or damaged. Continue prayer for the grain shipments to get through to those most in need.
Italy: The right wing government is taking a very hard-line stance on migrants and refugees. Pray for those working on the rescue vessels, including M.S.F. staff. Pray about the whole issue of migrant boats and ask for compassion and wisdom for all the European countries most affected.
U.S.A: Pray that the Lord's will be done in the mid-term elections. The results will affect not only people in the States but foreign policy including China and Ukraine etc.
Syria: Though this has gone out of the news, there are still people affected by the war, and recently a camp in Idlib was shelled, killing some. A number of refugees in Lebanon are being persuaded to return to Syria, but they may not be safe when they go back. Thank God for the work of Y.F.C. which still aims to bring Syrian and Lebanese young people together and ministers to refugees in the Beqaa. Pray for other Christian agencies working in Beirut to feed the hungry and for S.A.T.7 whose broadcasts give hope to the hopeless.
Egypt: Pray for COP27 as countries meet to try and bring solutions to climate change. The richer more developed nations are being challenged to give money to the third world nations which are suffering more from the crisis and have done much less to bring it about. Pray also that Egypt will respond to challenges on its human rights record. Pray in particular for one British national who is on hunger strike in prison. His sister is at COP27 to draw attention to his plight.
Pakistan: Pray about the blasphemy laws through which many are imprisoned or under death sentence, including Christians. Pray that the current instability and attempted assassination of Imran Khan might bring about a better government. Pray also for all those still suffering from the floods.
Iran: Continue to pray that here too, the current unrest would lead to a better government and more freedom for Christians and women in general.
Israel: Remember the current elections and pray that hard line leaders will not dominate.
India: Give thanks that Janaki reports that her back has been healed 100% and her neck, 90%. Continue to pray for complete restoration, and that she will be protected as she serves Jesus.
Belgium: Pray for Adrian's health and for Ecriture as they plan a possible tour using their worship songs, possibly next year in France and Switzerland. Ask for guidance.
S.Africa: Pray for Ben and Kirsten and their family as they prepare for their trip to the U.K. on 24th Nov.
International Y.F.C: Give thanks for a break for Martin and Sam this week.
Continue prayer for her health and Martin's trip to Romania on 23rd Nov.
B.Y.F.C: Pray for Neil as he returns from a meeting in Germany with other European National directors. Pray for Joy who has been on her course at Waverley this week and continues her work at the Hospice. Remember the rest of the family and Jake and Grace in the U.S. at this time of the Mid-terms.
U.K: Pray for the government and the negative effect of media regarding those who lead our country. Pray for less biased reporting, and pray that the Lord's will for us as a nation will be fulfilled. Pray for those who are suffering from the economic situation, and ask that Covid levels will not rise.
Continue prayer for Paula and Jo's health and pray for healing for Jo following a cataract operation this week.
Local: Remember all those who are not well or needing treatment at this time, giving thanks for those who work in our local NHS and those who work in our pharmacies. Give thanks for the teaching about our frontlines, and also for the way local churches are working more closely together. Pray for the collection for Ukraine. Give thanks for Phil and Sally and their families and all who lead our worship, and those on our P.C.C. Pray for all house groups and other fellowship groups, and remember all who mourn loved ones, especially at this time of the year.
