A GOOD day to honor veterans
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in the year 1918, fighting during World War I ended with the signing of an armistice. The end of the war was first celebrated on Nov. 11, 1918.
Each year, Veterans Day is observed on Nov. 11 to honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces and also to mark the anniversary of the end of World War I.
It is a GOOD day for communities all across the country, state and county to hold ceremonies and observances in honor of all who died defending our country and to thank all who have served in the military – both in wartime and peacetime.
For everyone, the day is a GOOD time to honor a special veteran with a simple message, “Thank you for your service to this country. Your bravery, sacrifice and strength do not go unnoticed, and we will always be indebted to you and your family for all that you have given to the country. We would like to thank you very much for your service.”
Some of the ceremonies in honor of Veterans Day in our area are listed below. These do not represent all of the events that are scheduled or will be prepared for Friday, Nov. 11.
