6. On this day in SBC history...

In 1976 - Carter Elected; Second Southern Baptist in White House

As Jimmy Carter waited in the early morning hours of Nov. 3 for the nation's television networks unanimously to project his victory over Gerald Ford. He reached the culmination of a near-miraculous climb from relative obscurity to the presidency of the United States. In so doing, Carter, 52, became the third Baptist and second Southern Baptist to win the presidency.

7. BP Sports Update

  • MLB: I had the same number of hits as the Phillies last night—zero. Houston pitchers Cristian Javier, Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly combined for only the second no-hitter in World Series history and the Astros tied the series with a 5-0 win.
  • MLS: Nashville's Hany Mukhtar was named the MVP of the league this week. He scored 23 goals and had 7 assists this season.
