Happy Friday Night!
Tonight I thought I would share some tips about "m1" increases. My latest design, Airplane Mode, uses this type of increase to grow the scarf out (you start with just 3 stitches but end with 187, all thanks to m1 increases!). Sometimes people find this type of increase a bit more cumbersome when they're first learning it - if you are one of these people, then tonight's tips may be especially helpful!

M1-R & M1-L

One of the most popular types of knitting increases is the "m1" (make 1). You'll find it listed as either "m1-R" (make 1 right-leaning) or "m1-L" (make 1 left-leaning). The stitch you create with this increase leans in a particular direction depending on how it's worked (hence the right-leaning and left-leaning), and this is why you'll often find them worked in pairs (like in my Airplane Mode).

Ice Breaker

Ice Breaker is a sleeveless layering top/popover, perfect for winter layering! And knit up seamlessly and in bulky-weight yarn, it’s a fun, fast knit too. Featured photo of the week

Speaking of Ice Breaker...check out this beautiful version knit up by Katherine, owner of Coastal Purl yarn shop in Elizabeth City, NC. She made hers a tunic length!
She knit this version in Perfection Chunky by Kraemer Yarns. It's such a great example of how you can take a design and really make it your own - and in this case, so simply by just adding length!  Click here for the pattern's Ravelry page or the button below for my blog post about this design.

Jeff captured this moment of me and my dog Alice watching the sunset at Winslow Park here in Freeport earlier this week. It was such a beautiful evening!
Wishing you all a lovely weekend.
