Contemporary Issues Foretaste: Leadership for the Missional Church is written by our very own Rev. Paul M. Dietterich. We have too often missed the point that it is the community of faith, the church, that is called to be a sign, instrument, and in particular a foretaste of the reign of God. So, what would an appetizer of God's coming reign look like anyway? The focus of this book is not only on what a church does but how it goes about doing what it does. To join on Zoom (link).

The Open and Affirming Team will host "The Trans List and our response" documentary and discussion hybrid event on Saturday, November 12, from 10 am to 12 pm. The HBO documentary, The Trans List, is about 57 minutes long, and we will watch it together in person at the church library. The second hour will be a hybrid section, both in-person and online, where we can share our reflections and issues related to transgender and gender non-binary folks in our community and country. Soft drinks and refreshments will be provided, and the Guide of in-person gathering issued by the Church Council will be followed. You can also find more information about this HBO documentary and watch it at your place. Here is the link (click).

History-Making Trans Actor Michaela Jaé Rodriguez Wants to Be the Example
In January, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez made history as the first trans actor to win a Golden Globe. The 31-year-old won best actress in a TV drama for her role as house mother Blanca Evangelista on Pose, the FX series about New York City’s ’80s and ’90s ball scene. Just six months earlier, Rodriguez had also broken barriers by becoming the first trans woman to earn an Emmy nomination in a lead acting category.--- Read the full story and video interview on the Time Magazine (click link).
