Dear friends,

I voted earlier this week, and checked that off my list. Now whatever Tuesday brings, I have one less thing to think about. OK, who am I kidding? I'm going to be thinking about voting all day Tuesday, and most of the time between now and then. I hope that I have earned your vote, and that you will vote for me as well as the other excellent Democrats on the ballot this year. I also hope you make a plan to vote, and vote early if you are able. You can vote early at 444 Westminster Street (parking around back at Greene St.) tomorrow (Friday), Saturday or Monday. You can also vote at your polling place on Tuesday; you can double check the location at vote.ri.gov.

If you're like me and you can't think about anything other than the election, here are some volunteer opportunities:
RI Working Families Party canvas and phone events
Seth Magaziner for RI02
Georgia Democrats Phones

We in Providence have a lot of ballot measures. The changes to our City Charter were recommended in a process that was ... not super clear nor participatory. I've said things about the school board issue on the ballot (I voted no), and as for the rest of it, I turned to city councilor Helen Anthony for analysis and guidance. Helen's newsletter was very helpful as I decided how to vote on the measures.

We all have to be vigilant and protect our democracy. The thing we all can do before Tuesday is vote. If you're able to spend any other time helping great people get elected, please do! And then let's meet up here, on zoom or in person and talk about how to keep building the world we want to live in (and fight back against the dangerous anti-democratic, antisemitic, anti-LGBTQ, anti-public health, racist destabilizing forces in our midst). I'm convinced the way to do that this week is to be focused on winning elections.

As always, please let me know what you think, by e-mail, phone or at my community conversation tomorrow at noon (see link above). Also, please follow me on Twitter or Facebook, or write to me at info@rebeccakislak.com. You can also call or text me at 401-400-2338. I look forward to hearing from you!
