Business Façade Improvement Program - Business & Contractors Networking
Denver Economic Development & Opportunity has launched its Business Façade Improvement Program (BFIP) to support small businesses in the enhancement or repair of their storefronts. The program offers grants between $25,000-$75,000.
This event brings together businesses applying to the BFIP and general contractors, who could potentially be their partners as they tackle their improvement projects. We encourage small and minority- and women-owned businesses to attend and learn more about the BFIP and collaboration opportunities with potential grantees.

City investments in priority neighborhoods support business challenges
DENVER – With a volume and diversity of business-building programs larger than it has ever delivered, Denver Economic Development and Opportunity (DEDO) through its Neighborhood Equity and Stabilization division (NEST) is pumping resources into Denver neighborhoods to help vulnerable small businesses thrive and grow. A range of funding streams, including federal dollars, has made it possible for the city to deliver highly targeted programs addressing specific business obstacles faced by neighborhoods or industries.
“Individual business needs are as different as our local owners are diverse, and this is an opportunity to bring innovative and creative programs forward to support our local businesses in new ways,” said Mayor Michael B. Hancock. “We’re moving fast and delivering relief where it is needed most.”
The city’s new $2.15M Neighborhood Activation Program, funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), has made its first 22 local grants in less than 90 days. With NEWSED Corp. as a nonprofit partner, DEDO’s NEST staff created a streamlined application form, evaluated more than 135 proposed projects, and has awarded $1,999,550. Activation projects funded include a screening of the film "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" that will occur in Five Points; the Globeville Art & Music Festival; and the Leyendas Festival, planned for Westwood. Event details are underway as the grantees arrange for staffing and supplies.

$15M Malone Fund to accelerate Minority- and Women-owned businesses
Launched with 1 percent of the city’s retail marijuana sales tax rate, a new investment program proposed by Mayor Michael B. Hancock and led by Denver Economic Development & Opportunity (DEDO) is designed to mitigate the discriminatory capital environment faced by local minority- and women-owned businesses, opening up their access to investors, grants or loan funds that are essential to building long-term viability and wealth.
