Dear HOPE Parents,
We have had another productive week here at HOPE. Students are working hard, teachers are teaching hard, and admin staff are trying to support everyone as much as possible. The buzz of learning was everywhere this week.
CONFERENCES
November 21, 22 will be our fall conferences where you have the opportunity to speak with the teacher about your child's progress. Some teachers have scheduled a few face to face conferences, but the majority of conferences are all virtual. You will be receiving an invitation and a link to use in order to participate. This will be the last time we do virtual conferences.
BOOK FAIR
Many parents recommended that we try a different book fair this year. Some of you sent us information regarding the Usborne Online Book Fair. Unfortunately, they do not have Chinese books, but I certainly hope you take some time to go to the site and see if there might be some books you may want to purchase for Christmas, for your child, or for the class. I will be asking for your feedback after the book fair is over. Please read the book fair information enclosed in this Friday Announcement.
MIDDLE SCHOOL DROP OFF
Please be patient and don't be upset as we continue to make our drop off for middle schoolers run smoother. It is not like a driveline where you stop, let students out and move on. We ask that you pull into the parking area, park and let student out. This is the most efficient way to keep traffic down. We are backing up both ways on 106th and neighbors are being upset. This is the way we have done in the past, but I think we just did not start off reinforcing this at the beginning of the year. Thanks for helping us make this work. Please remember the teachers are asking because it is how we do things. Don't be mad at them.
CANDY
Students should not bring candy for snack. Please try to send a healthy snack if possible.
COMMUNICATION
One of my goals is to improve communication. I think this is my goal every year. We have a school communication plan that shares all of the various ways we communicate. HOPE does an amazing job of getting the word out to people and getting feedback from parents. I am proud of all the work our staff does to ensure positive two way communication takes place. I do want to remind you that I am relying on many other people to help with communication this year due to staff resignations or workload requirements. I don't want to miss your questions or comments. Please remember to email our programs@hopeccs.org if an immediate response is needed. Otherwise, it may take some time to get back to you. Thanks for your understanding.
FUNDRAISING
Thanks for your participation in our Penny Wars. It is a small fundraiser, but the students love it! We raised about $1000 less than last year. On the readathon we raised about $2000 less than last year. With costs of things going up, and it probably impacts some of our fundraising. I am still hopeful that between our small fundraisers, our annual giving and corporate matching, and donations that we are able to exceed our goal of $450,000 in an effort to balance the budget. T
PORTABLES
We are on the last lap toward getting into the portables. We are now just waiting for the wifi and projectors to be installed. Then it will be time for the final inspection. It order to run the wires, they may have to wait until students are not here next week. Therefore, it looks like a couple more weeks....as I say every week?
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
With High Expectations,
Kevin Olds
