Updated Crisis Response Procedures for the 2022-2023 School Year

As always, the top priority of our school community—and a primary focus of the district’s strategic plan—is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. To foster that environment, we research and practice the best school safety protocols and work with local law enforcement as critical partners to seek every opportunity to ensure our students and staff are safe. To keep you informed, we would like to share the language we use and potential responses we employ in crisis situations. Please know that if a SHELTER IN PLACE or ACTIVE THREAT is initiated at our school, you will be informed and asked to await further updates and/or instructions. View Crisis Response Procedures Infographic

Hello! I am the School Resource Officer (SRO) for North Junior High & Madison Elementary. For those that do not know,  St. Cloud School District has five police officers assigned within their schools that are known as SROs. Our St. Cloud Police Department and the school district have a positive and interactive relationship that has made our SRO program successful & strong. My role within the school is proactive. I enjoy being involved daily with the students during transition times and lunch periods. I have a few intentional teaching opportunities which is teaching 6th graders drug education in October. I visit the classrooms and discuss bullying, thefts, disorderly behavior and how our actions when it comes to how we interact with others can become criminal. My presentation with the kids are always proactive and educational.  I also strive to answer basic questions and concerns students may have to create a safe and respectful environment. My personal goal in my position is to have one of my students become a part of our police department before I retire! In my time away from work I enjoy being outdoors, being active and spending time with my two boys and husband.

Parents please take some time again to review the resources shared below and have a candid discussion with your student regarding his or her use of social media.  It will take a consistent and continuing partnership between home and school to ensure that our students are practicing accountability, respect, and empathy when engaging in online communication and information sharing.
