PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Greetings to our artists and art enthusiasts.  Fall is a great time to practice our painting skills, take a class or start planning for Spring and Summer events.   We are continuing a new art year and new adventures are opening up for us.   We have started some planning but would love to have more input/ideas from our members, so please tell us or send us your ideas and information.

At the October meeting 9 of us began drawings and paintings for our Spring shows.  There weren't enough works for the mini-show.

For our November 10th meeting we will host the spectacular artist ,
MINA HO FERRANTE.
Please bring the art supplies you would like to work with( paper or canvas).  We will have easels, chairs and tables set up for you. (See details below.)

The GAA show at the Makery in downtown Los angeles will be from March 10th to April 9th with a first Friday event advertised in downtown L.A.(April 7th).  The suggested name is "Nature Renews".  We will have a sign up sheet on Thursday.    If we receive enough entries we can award prizes as well.

The GAA board is planning a 100th anniversary  GAA party for our December meeting

Dulce Stein has signed up at the Makery for her Feria de las Flores show in April, which is an open show, right after the GAA show .

GAA has been accepted to create a show at the McGroarty art center next Summer. Details to be discussed later.
PLEASE BRING NEW ART FOR THE MINI-SHOW.
MINA HO FERRANTE

Mark your calendar for our monthly meeting on Thursday evening November 10, 2022. Come work alongside Mina Ho Ferrante, creating fun, dynamic figure drawings- nude and clothed.

Mina Ho Ferrante was born and raised in Vietnam. She studied art there until the age of 21. While she was young, she had a successful solo exhibition of silk painting in Ho Chi Minh city.

When she moved to the United States, she studied in San Francisco at the Academy of Art College and was chosen to participate in Walt Disney's Animation Training Boot Camp.

She was one of three students who received a Scholarship and post-graduation offer to work for Disney Feature Animation Studios. She subsequently worked on designing movie sets for animations, including Atlantis, Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Tarzan 2, and Lilo and Stitch 2.

Mina lives in Burbank with her family. She teaches drawing and painting for adults and teenagers and is working towards a Master’s degree in Art History.

Mina is a member of many art associations in California, such as the California Art Club, the Burbank Art Association, and Women Painters West. She also belongs to the Portrait Society of America. She has won numerous Best of Shows and First Place Awards.

Please check out her website at www.minahoferrante.com

Be sure to put this Demonstration from a fantastic artist on your calendar!

Artists need to bring: easels. Sketchbook (9x12” or bigger), charcoal pencils 4B or 6B, chalk sticks or charcoal sticks, the creamy kinds, not the scratchy kinds; erasers (optional; I usually don’t erase when doing figure drawings).
Most importantly, each artist should have a smartphone or tablet because I need to transfer the pictures over their phone so they can do the drawing.
