The Germans say that in the Pfalz you can grow anything! A comment on the sunny days, cool nights and the protection from bad weather offered by the Haart mountains. Even though it's well north of Alsace it's considered one of Germany's "warmest" riesling regions. it's just south of Rhienhessen, AND the equivilent lattidude in our neck of the woods would be way south of New Zealand, just to give you an idea of the "warmth". Even though the region has this "warm" reputation and wines that are supposedly a little "plusher" than other regions, I find them difficult to pick in a blind line up, such is the quality and style. The best winemakers, like those listed below, harbour a burning desire to make wines of greatness, and they do. Cheers, Randall.
