Have a spooky weekend!

The Lion's Roar wishes everyone a happy and safe Halloween for those who celebrate this weekend. This a reminder to all students to schedule advising appointments before Priority Registration starts on Nov.7.

Students can visit the advising web page for more information regarding contact information for academic advisors. In addition, students must ensure that all unpaid balances on LEONet are cleared before registering for classes. Other reminders include: Academic Checkpoint I for Fall Term II Session on Oct. 26, and the last day to withdraw from classes or resign from the university is Oct. 28 at 12:30 p.m. 

Some events happening this week on campus are: 

  • Tuesday, 10/25: Office of Student Engagement's Boo Bash at the REC from 7-10 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 10/26: SGA Free Speech Alley from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Student Union Breezeway
  • Wednesday, 10/26: Department of History and Political Science Fanfare Lecture: Who Killed Nancy? in the Pottle Auditorium from 2-3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 10/26: National Pan-Hellenic Council TNT Night 2 in the Student Union Breezeway from 7-10 p.m.
  • Thursday, 10/27: Volleyball vs. UNO in the University Center at 6:30 p.m. 
SLU students give campus Wi-Fi a failing grade
Students and faculty all over campus have reported consistently experiencing internet deficiencies in different buildings throughout their day. There is a growing chorus of voices advocating for more resources to be allocated toward increasing Wi-Fi speeds. Read more
Student loan forgiveness is on temporary hold, but you can still apply
On Friday, Oct. 21, the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals put a temporary block on President Biden’s student debt forgiveness plan. According to National Public Radio (NPR), the block was installed to “review a motion from six Republican-led states to stop the program.” Read more
Grant for B.R.I.D.G.E Project approved: How it will help students and future teachers.
The College of Education was awarded a $5 million grant to aid in the employment of recent college graduates and the promotion of diversity in the teaching profession through an initiative known as the B.R.I.D.G.E. project. Read more
Senior Night Celebration: Lady Lions win 5-1
On Oct. 23, the Lady Lions celebrated their Senior Night by dominating opposing team McNeese State, 5-1. Read more
