Roads, Roads, and More Roads!
Happy Wednesday, Toledo.
It was a great day out on Heatherlawn! I was joined by members of the Toledo Department of Transportation in announcing the official end of the 2022 road season. I am proud to say that it was another record-breaking year.
Since 2020, with the support of City of Toledo voters who passed a roads levy, the city has dedicated much of its effort to ensuring that we repair or replace as many roads as we can each season. Of course, there is more to be done! The 2023 roads list should be posted in the coming weeks.
But first, we should celebrate 2022. Just over 120 residential streets were resurfaced, which is 51.37 lane miles. Over 43 streets were patched and sealed, which is 18.38 lane miles. Nearly 38 unimproved streets were repaired, which is 8.87 lane miles. These are unprecedented numbers! Thanks to all of our road crews, engineers, and partner contractors for their efforts this season.
In case you missed it, in another good sign that we are on the right track and moving fast, the Toledo Region was ranked the #5 Manufacturing hub in the United States.
Don't forget to join me next Wednesday, November 2 at 4:30 for the monthly Wednesdays with Wade. I look forward to you joining members of my cabinet to provide updates on all things happening in the City of Toledo.
Happy Halloween, Toledo!
