Highlands Families,

We are excited to host a school-wide food drive event led by our Student Leadership Club.  We will be working with Erie UpLink. Erie UpLink is a charitable 501(c)(3) organization committed to connecting Erie families with resources to fulfill their basic life needs, including connecting Erie families with opportunities to be of service to one another. We are thankful that we can count on the food to fill our spring Tiger Packs.

Tiger Packs are backpacks with kid-friendly, nonperishable food items sent home with students, at parent request, to bridge the food gap over long weekends and holiday breaks for kids who normally have free breakfast and lunch at school. For more information www.erieuplink.org.

* Food Drive Starts November 1 and will end November 18.
* Collection boxes will be placed outside each classroom.
* Items Needed:
-Canned Soup (kid favorite varieties, microwavable or pop top preferred)
-Ramen Noodles
-Canned SpaghettiOs or Ravioli
-Optional item- Peanut Butter- snack cups/packets or small jars

Thank you for your willingness to support others! Let's help fill those packs.

Office News & Reminders:

Birthday Celebrations (per Parent Handbook)

A celebration of the child’s birthday will be scheduled in the classroom to honor their special day.  Student birthdays are also recognized on the daily announcements and through a special visit to the front office.  Students with summer birthdays are encouraged to celebrate on their “half birthday” or on any other day selected by the family.  Parents should notify the teacher regarding the date selected for the summer birthday celebration.

NOTE:  no food will be served for birthday celebrations.

Trunk or Treat October 28th at 5:00 pm - we will have a lost and found by the front doors, please stop by and check for your students missing items!

Late Start - 11/2 School starts at 11:30

Please make sure when entering the front door that each guest rings in separately.  This allows the office staff to have contact with each individual that comes through the door.  Guests unknown to us must show identification before entering.  We appreciate your help with this.

HALLOWEEN Information

We will again have our Halloween Parade outside at 9:15 on the 31st.  Parents wanting to watch may stand outside the building as the students parade around the perimeter.  Costumes should be comfortable to wear all day, no weapons, blood or gore and nothing covering the face throughout the day.  Classroom celebration information will come from your child's teacher.  Please check their newsletters/emails for important times and needs regarding Halloween.
