A Letter From The Rector

St. Paul's Weekly Update

October 28, 2022

Dear Friends,

I am very honored and humbled by the announcement by Frank Laney and Rick Bradley of the naming of the Parish Hall. I hope you can join us on November 6, which will also be the day of our Annual Meeting at 10:00 a.m.
This Sunday, October 30, is St. Paul’s Annual Episcopal Visitation and the celebration of confirmation.  We will also, as part of our Stewardship Program, hear from Caitlin Belingon and Toby Cole, representing our youth, who will speak at all three services and share the significance of St. Paul’s in their lives. And then Sunday evening join us for the Halloween Carnival.
The following Sunday, November 6 will be the day of our Annual Meeting as well as Stewardship Sunday.  And in the evening of November 6, at 5:00 p.m. there will be a service of Choral Evensong.

Presentation Naming the Rev. George Adamik Parish Hall

On behalf of Frank Laney and Rick Bradley please join us November 6 for a presentation naming the Rev. George Adamik Parish Hall
In 2018, as we celebrated our 60th Anniversary as a parish, the community of St. Paul’s launched the Welcoming in Christ capital campaign “to take care of present, pressing needs of our parish, as well as make our facilities more welcoming and more useful for our present and future parishioners.” Despite the challenges of undertaking a major construction project during unprecedented times, we think we can say: Mission Accomplished.
The $100,000 Level of Giving in the campaign included the option of naming spaces in the renovated areas. Now that the spaces have reopened for gatherings, we are pleased to announce publicly that one family stepped forward to answer that challenge and requested the Parish Hall to be named for the Reverend George Adamik. The Vestry approved that naming request in 2021. Capital Campaign Chairs Rick Bradley and Frank Laney will make the official announcement and presentation to George at the 9:00 a.m. worship service on November 6, 2022. Please join us in person or on livestream to celebrate this happy announcement.

 Confirmation
This Sunday, October 30, is St. Paul’s Annual Episcopal Visitation.  We will welcome Bishop Mary Gray-Reeves, who serves as the Managing Director at the College for Bishops of The Episcopal Church. We will be celebrating Confirmation at the 9:00 a.m. liturgy followed by a Festive Coffee Hour in the parish hall hosted by the Fellowship Events Ministry. Get a cup of coffee and join us in the chapel for a Bishop’s Forum beginning at 10:30 a.m. Bishop Mary will be celebrant and homilist at both the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services.

Worshipping, Serving, Growing in Faith:
Stewardship 2023
Pledge Online
This Sunday we welcome Caitlin Belingon and Toby Cole, who will speak at all three services and share the significance of St. Paul’s in their lives. We invite you to make your financial pledge to support St. Paul’s operating budget for 2023 by Sunday, November 6.

Choral Evensong at St. Paul’s on 6th November 2022
On November 6, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. the Raleigh Convocation Choir will present a Choral Evensong for All Saints’ (transferred) at St. Paul’s. Made up of singers from parish choirs from the Raleigh area of the diocese, the choir includes several members from the St. Paul’s Choir. The ensemble is led by Rusty McKinney, RCC’s recently appointed Music Director. Music includes Reponses by Richard Ayleward, Canticles by Thomas Weelkes (from his Short Service) and Anthems by Henry Purcell, Tomás Luis de Victoria, and William Mundy. The Reverend George Adamik will officiate and Mac Pannill, long-time organist at White Plains UMC will be guest organist. Slightly under an hour long, Choral Evensong is a very good service to invite friends and neighbors to, and a peaceful way to close the day. Come join us. All are welcome!

Make our Halloween Carnival Extra Special
Who doesn’t love watching the children process out for Children’s Chapel on Sundays? How fun would it be to participate in their Halloween celebration for Trunk or Treat this Sunday, October 30.
Grab a friend, some treats and a few decorations (for your car or parking space) and you are ready to go. Be as simple or as elaborate as you wish, the children will be thrilled to show off their costumes as they stop for treats at each space.
Here are the details: drive up by 5:30 p.m. to get your assigned spot (we are NOT part of the pizza party, that’s really just for the kiddos). The children will file out for carnival games and Trunk or Treat just before 6 pm, and festivities will be done before 7:00 p.m. If you need more information, contact Mother Alice at alice@stpaulscary.org. We’ll see you there!
