Principal's Message

Hello Sea Lion Families,

Thank you for participating in our annual PTA carnival on Saturday!  It was such a treat for our community to come together for an outrageously fun day! The money raised from this event will do so much for the Sea Lions at McGaugh.  PTA supports our students by purchasing books for students, supporting student field trips, funding assemblies such as the Imagination Machine, and guest speakers like Brent Poppen. Your support of our PTA and your generous contributions have provided our kids rich, learning opportunities. THANK YOU!

I would also like to acknowledge and thank our dedicated PTA President Jennifer Katz, PTA Board and volunteers, especially our carnival chair Vanessa Swinford, who worked tirelessly to bring us the Fall Carnival.  They spent many days and nights away from their families to ensure our families had an amazing carnival experience.  THANK YOU!!! We truly appreciate all you do for all Sea Lions!

RED RIBBON WEEK
Red Ribbon Week kicks off Monday, October 24th.  The first official Red Ribbon Week celebration was created by the National Family Partnership in 1988. Since then, the red ribbon has symbolized a continuing commitment to reducing the demand for illicit drugs in our communities. This year’s theme is: Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free. At school, students will engage in activities that promote a drug free and healthy lifestyle. We have many great activities planned, including DRESS-UP DAYS, Rally Day with Seal Beach PD and OC fire department, and much much more!!! Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family.

Please view the flyer below for details. Red Ribbon Week is a way for schools and communities to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children.  We do this through a commitment to drug prevention, education, and a personal commitment to live drug-free lives.

A Big Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped for our carnival and silent auction this year. Whether you helped with a shift in a booth, ticket sales, set up or clean up, planning, donating cakes, drinks or prizes, helping us secure an auction item or donating one, or putting together a class basket, it all makes a difference! It truly takes a village to put on a double event like carnival and silent auction and we cannot do it without your help. Thank you to our carnival and silent auction chairs Vannessa Swinford and Evelyn Garcia, and the carnival and silent auction teams! Seeing families and friends enjoy themselves, and being part of our amazing community,  is what it is all about.

You helped to make that happen! This year was a HUGE success and we can’t wait to share more information shortly!

Thank you for all you do to make our school such a special place to be.

With gratitude,

Jennifer Katz, PTA President, and your PTA Board

Red Ribbon Week "Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free"

WHAT IS RED RIBBON WEEK?

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest and oldest drug prevention campaign in the nation. Red Ribbon Week takes place each year from October 23-31. Red Ribbon Week is a time for schools across the country to engage students in critical dialogue about the importance of making positive life choices and avoiding alcohol and drug use.

HOW WILL WE CELEBRATE IT

Throughout the week, students will engage in activities that promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. All classes will participate in a coloring contest, daily announcements and discussions, and a read aloud by members of the Seal Beach Police Department. We will also have our 2nd Annual Red Ribbon Rally during lunch on Wednesday, 10/26 featuring SBPD, OCFA and our Marine Safety team.
