CONNECT ASSEMBLY
There was a Connect Assembly at the Junior/Senior High School on Monday wishing the football, volleyball, and soccer teams well as they move on to tournament games. The contestants were blindfolded and had to guess who it was that kissed them on their cheeks. Turns out, it was a parent!   Fun assembly that was planned by students Belle Dimbath and Savannah Pond.

HS Students connecting with Junior High Students!

Written by:  High School Junior, Kyla Harvey:
Today in my French 3 class, me and my peers decided to teach the younger generation (7th graders) of Waynesville a dance we learned from the Wright State Language Immersion Day.  During the teaching moment, we were able to get all of the kids involved with many different dance moves. The kids were all jumping around with smiling faces while dancing. I think it was a very exciting moment for them to be able to connect with the so-called 'the big kids' while doing something fun and active for everyone!

PRINCIPAL'S BOOK OF SECRETS
The Jr./Sr. High School is trying to find clues to solve the mystery of the identity of "Al" and solve the Principal's Book of Secrets" It's been a fun week that wraps up on Monday with the big reveal.

Football
On Friday the Spartans looked to topple the Carlisle Indians on the road. The Spartans were firing out of the kickoff playing their hardest on both sides of the ball, the game soon turned into a dogfight with both teams fighting for every yard and by halftime the score was tied at 14-14. Coming out of halftime the game was still a battle until the fourth quarter where the Spartans ultimately fell to the Indians with a final score of 21-28.

Tonight, the Spartans head to the first round of the playoffs at Springfield Northeastern.  Kickoff is at 7pm and tickets must be purchased online at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets. There will also be a $5 per car charge for parking.

7TH GRADE FOOTBALL CHAMPS
WAY TO GO!

Girls Soccer
On Saturday, the girls soccer team faced the Eaton Golden Eagles at home for their first game in the OHSAA tournament. As per usual the Spartans played exceptionally well on both ends of the field and truly dominated the Golden Eagles for the entirety of the match. The match ended with a final score of 8-0 and resulted in another Spartans win!  The Spartans then matched up for a third time this season in the next round of the tournament against the Oakwood Lumberjacks.  It was a hard fought battle but the Spartans proved to be victorious with a 2-1 victory.  The Spartans will continue their quest towards state with a match this Saturday at Bellbrook High School vs. Carroll.  Kickoff is at 7pm and tickets must be purchased online at https://www.ohsaa.org/tickets.

Cross Country
This past weekend the HS Cross Country teams ran at Cedarville for the Southwest District Meet.  The girls team placed 1st and the guys were 5th overall. Both teams have qualified for Regionals and will run this Saturday at Troy Memorial Stadium.

Volleyball
The high school girls volleyball team finished their season in a hard fought battle against number one seed Badin last Saturday.  The team went 4 sets and showed much tenacity in coming back to win the third set after being down 2.

Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team faced off with Botkins in Bellefontaine on Monday night.  The boys fell short just short losing by 1 goal to Botkins in a game where they controlled the majority of the match.  As a young team, the future is bright and they are already looking forward to a run next year.

TEEN FUN:
Teens in 6th - 12th grade, volunteer at the Library this fall and have a frightfully fun time earning community service hours! We are looking for teens to help us make not-so-spooky decorations for an upcoming outdoor children's program at the Library in October. We will start making crafts at the library Wednesday, September 21 - October 22. Group decoration meetings and drop-in volunteer hours are available. We will host a one-day park walk event on Saturday, October 29 from 10am-1pm at the Mary L. Cook Public Library. Volunteers will pass out treats during the event (Saturday, October 29 from 10am-1pm) along the library's park walkway or help with activities in the library. Volunteers have the option to volunteer for decoration making, event hosting, or both.

All supplies will be provided at the library. Contact Sarah at ryansa@marylcook.com for more information.

Teens in 6th -12th grade can also contact Sarah at ryansa@marylcook.com for year-round Library volunteer information. The Library is a great place to earn community service hours!
