Have your say on the future of Royal Tunbridge Wells town centre

TWBC is preparing a Town Centre Plan for Royal Tunbridge Wells, which will be part of the overall Local Plan for the borough.

An online survey has been launched on the Council’s Talking Point platform to get views about the future of the town centre.

We are very keen to hear the views of local businesses and it will only take you a few minutes to complete the survey. Please note that there will be further opportunities to engage in the preparation of the Town Centre Plan as the work progresses.

There is also a set of questions for residents if you live locally but your business is not in the town centre.

The survey can be found at the link below (ends 22 November):

FREE social media marketing support

TWBC has partnered with Kent Invicta Chamber and Maybe*Tech to offer borough businesses FREE social media support.

Retail businesses across the borough are being given access to expert digital skills training to improve their social media promotion and increase sales.
You will get a year’s free use of the Maybe*Tech platform which will give you marketing insights, a scheduling tool, daily social media training and guides available to read at your own pace.

Why should I sign up?

It’s free and data shows that only 21% of local businesses across the borough are active on social media, meanwhile 40% of consumers in England say that they are spending more than 3 hours a day on social media.

Small Business Saturday – Get Involved!

Small Business Saturday is celebrated across the UK on Saturday 3 December. This year, we will be setting up a stall in Calverley Precinct to promote our small businesses and encourage residents to shop local. Here are some ways you can get involved and promote your business:
  • Send us leaflets/business cards, special offer leaflets (some past promotions that were successful include 1st free drink, special discount, 2 for 1 deals etc.).
  • A prize! We will have a wheel of fortune on our stand so please do let us know if you’d like to contribute a prize. Participating businesses will feature on the Visit Tunbridge Wells and Tunbridge Wells Borough Council website and social media as well as mentioned in our press release and a poster with your logo on the stand.
  • Keep an eye on our social media for other opportunities to get involved. Email us on business@tunbridgewells.gov.uk with any questions or ideas. Please note that this opportunity is for businesses across the borough not just in Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Accessibility training
Top Tips to Improve Accessibility: A Workshop organised by Visit Kent in partnership with AccessAble on Thursday 24th November 10am – 11am on Zoom.

The workshop will cover:
  • The requirements needed to become an accessible venue
  • How you can make quick, low-cost or no-cost improvements
  • Priority areas of your venue to consider
  • Examples of what an accessible venue looks like
  • Where to go for further advice

Why is this relevant to my business?

This workshop is primarily for tourism and hospitality businesses that have a venue, such as attractions and accommodation providers. You will benefit from this workshop by gaining a further understanding as to why accessibility is a key factor you should consider, to make your venue a more inclusive and accessible environment. To support this, 99% of respondents to a survey conducted by AccessAble in 2018 said it was important to know about accessibility before visiting a new place and 98% searched for accessibility information in advance.
