More Signs of Garden Fairies

Oct 25, 2022 10:31 am

Garden fairies here.

We are garden fairies and we are here to write our own words and stop Carol from driveling on about signs of garden fairies in a garden.

As if we’d leave signs!

We are garden fairies. We prefer to move about a garden unnoticed, minding our own business. You’ll find no sign here that says, “Garden Fairies Live Here.”

That’s just not our style!

We prefer more subtle signs that require a little thought and consideration before you realize what they mean.

For example, these crocuses showing up in fall? Carol can tell you all you want about how she planted those corms, and there is truth in that. She did indeed plant about a dozen corms long ago.

But it is we garden fairies who’ve taken on the task of turning those dozen corms into way more than a dozen flowers. Way more.

In this picture alone there are at least a dozen blooms in various stages ranging from bud to bloom to blasted, which is what we call blooms that have faded like that.

They are a subtle sign that we are here!

Now, these crocuses are all in the back garden which means they aren’t seen by passersby. But Ol’ Rainbow Tanglefly alerted us the other day that Carol planted a bunch more of these in the front garden.

We are quite excited about this but haven’t seen any flowers yet. We expect if we ever get some fall rain like we should get—and deserve to get—that they will come up and bloom.

And we are garden fairies. Then the work begins because it will be up to us to make them multiply and return year after year.

And that’s the way Carol will know there are garden fairies here at May Dreams Gardens. More crocuses than she planted.

That and when Seedy and Soddy steal her tools. She still hasn’t found that digging knife they took and hid this past summer. We are hoping she looks again. We know where it is. I think Hortensia and Honoria might try to lead her to it.

We’ll see. In the meantime, we need to wrap up this post. We’ve turned a bunch of tree leaves to all kinds of pretty colors, and now we need to work with the tree fairies to cut them off, which we like to do just after Carol finishes raking. We have to finish doing that before the tree fairies migrate inside to take up residence in Carol’s Christmas tree. But that’s a story for another day.

We are garden fairies,
