BCSU's Monthly Prayer Update
Informing you about the ministry of BCSU,
so that you will know how to pray for us.

A good beginning with a helpful example

BCSU’s Leadership Conference this year was entitled “Get out of the boat!” and was held in the town of Tryavna. During our three days together (September 30 – October 2), the 27 participants had a wonderful opportunity to study the life of Peter and the ways that Jesus formed his character and ability to lead others in God’s mission. We are grateful for this time God gave us to share, think, pray and be reminded of the things that He has prepared for the student work throughout the country this year.

We believe the things that we learned together from the life, calling and discipleship of Peter as well as the lessons he learned from Jesus, will produce fruit in the life of our groups. We can’t wait to see what God has in store for us!

"The leadership conference showed me what it means to be a leader according to the Bible. It filled me with courage and boldness. And I learned that God can even use my failures for His glorify. Fearing failure is often worse than failure itself because it hinders me taking steps of trust in God, who always is giving me the opportunity to grow in Him." - Katrin Petkova, 2nd year, Chemistry faculty at University of Sofia St. Clement Ohridsky

Together in unity

On the 22nd of this month, for the first time in Bulgaria the festival ‘Come and See” was held in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian Christian Student Union was the initiator and organizer for this event with the support of the Evangelical Alliance. Almost 50 parachurch organizations participated in this event in the expo center which we formed in “Blaga vest” church in Sofia.

During the day we also organized four different working groups in other rooms in the church on the following themes: ministry among children, ministry among people in risk, organizing and leading small groups, and evangelism. Throughout the day there were video presentations from different organizations. Leading up to the festival we made many updates for these organizations on the website created especially for the “Come and See” initiative. We are excited that in this event the evangelical world in Bulgaria was able to see a clearer picture of all that God is doing in Bulgaria.

We are grateful to God for bringing us together in unity for His glory. It was a great privilege for us to participate in His work as this event was a celebration of unity and fellowship, that David writes about in Psalm 133.

Pray for

  • God to continue to strengthen the unity among the churches and organizations in Bulgaria.
  • the student leaders to continue to grow as committed disciples of Christ and to be proactive in service in their student groups.
  • the upcoming fall retreat for BCSU’s alumni (November 4 – 6).
  • the upcoming “leadership days”, which will be held in November in Sofia and Varna.
Give to the ministry of BCSU!
