New Plants Just In:  Pitch Pine, White Oak, Red Oak, Eastern Red Cedar, Persimmon.
Yes, you can plant trees and shrubs until the ground is frozen!

Dig the hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep, but no deeper.  Gently loosen the roots of the plant and set it in the soil and back fill.  Apply 1"-2" of mulch and water well.  When warmer weather hits (in late winter or early spring) be sure to water if there is no snow cover.  They will need water as they leaf out.

It's a great way to get a head start on spring!
Callicarpa americana (American Beautyberry)
A shrub with an open habit and graceful, arching branches. 3-6 feet tall and wide.  Sports bright purple berries from late summer through fall, a favorite of songbirds and critters! Though hardy in zones 6 to 12, it may benefit from some protection, such as mulching, in zone 6. Die-back is common, but will re-sprout.

Blueberries have great fall color.   They are an absolute favorite of many songbird species such as mockingbirds, catbirds, waxwings, jays, and more.  We have the selections 'Blue Ray' and 'Coville', as well as the straight species (wild variety).

Inkberry Holly (Ilex glabra).  Grows in moist to wet soil, sun to part shade.  Up to 8 feet in height.  Clay soil OK!    Read more here
