Dear Principal,

You are receiving this email because you lead a Title I elementary school in Wake County that has not yet applied to our Wheels on the Bus fund for the 2022-2023 school year.

The Wheels on the Bus Fund covers transportation costs for one grade level per school annually at Wake County public elementary schools for field trips to area arts and cultural destinations.

Who is eligible?
All WCPSS elementary schools are eligible to apply for transportation assistance for one field trip for one grade level. Schools may only submit one application per school year. Multiple applications per school will not be accepted.

Where can we go?
Your field trip destination must be selected from a list of 14 Triangle-area options. Choices include the NC Museum of Art, Artspace, Raleigh Little Theatre, NC Museum of History, NC Symphony, and more!

What will the grant cover?
The fund will cover transportation costs associated with one field trip for one grade level. Funds may be used for either WCPSS buses or private sources of transportation. Assistance with admission cost is also available for Title I schools.

When can we go?
Field trips may take place any time before June 9, 2023.

When is the deadline to apply?
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis from now through April 2023. The application will close once all available funds have been distributed.

When will we find out if we will receive funding?
Applications will be reviewed at the beginning of each month and awards will be made via email within two weeks.

How do we apply?
Use this online application.
