Nightmare Alley: DEATH LINE - 50th Anniversary Screening!

Artwork by Andrew Barr

4K RESTORATION! 50th ANNIVERSARY SCREENING! TORONTO THEATRICAL PREMIERE!

Predating such cannibal classics as THE TEXAS CHAIN SAW MASSACRE and THE HILLS HAVE EYES, the film was released in the United States under the more lurid title RAW MEAT, hoping to lure in an audience hungry for cheap thrills and gore. What they got was so much more. A somewhat absurd police procedural intertwined in a political allegory of the working class, with a touch of Frankenstein thrown in for good measure. Christopher Lee shows up specifically to share a scene with Donald Pleasence, who shines as the eccentric Inspector Calhoun. - Steven Landry
