Transition Letter Presbytery of Boston
October 27, 2022

Dear Friends in the Presbytery of Boston,

I am writing today to let you know that after nine happy years, I plan to leave my position as Stated Clerk at the end of the year. I have accepted a position as the full-time pastor of Providence Presbyterian Church in Providence, RI, not far from my home.

I have enjoyed my time as Stated Clerk, especially getting to know all of you. In my time at the Presbytery, we have addressed several challenges together including the dismissal of a congregation, the closure of two congregations, the work of the Newton Administrative Commission, many pastoral transitions, and the COVID pandemic. We have also had many reasons to celebrate, including ordinations, installations, and the exciting New Worshipping Communities that have grown up in our region and under our care. In this work, I have enjoyed serving with you.

Thank you for making the Presbytery of Boston an exciting place to serve. For next steps, I will be sitting with the personnel committee for an exit interview.  I will be happy to provide any input they need. This is an elected position, and the nominating committee will be charged with nominating the next Stated Clerk. After the nominating process, the Presbytery will ultimately elect my successor. I am confident that there will be several great candidates available for this position. Thank you for trusting me to serve in this roll. I have enjoyed my time with the Presbytery, and I have tried to serve you well.

Peace,
T. J. DeMarco, Stated Clerk
Presbytery of Boston
