Old Town Holiday Stroll & Other Holiday Plans

First of all, you may noticed the look of this email has changed a little. This is still the same Old Town Newsletter that is for merchants, property owners, & residents and anyone else who cares about the happenings in Old Town ABQ. We are updating the look to match the rebranding of the www.albuquerqueoldtown.com website to have a more cohesive look and feel.

Great news! Yes, the Old Town Holiday Stroll is happening this year, but even better, there are some additional plans with the City of Albuquerque to make Old Town Albuquerque a destination for shopping & entertainment for more than just the Old Town Holiday Stroll. Here is a sneak peak at what is planned.

Note: this is NOT an official announcement. The city wants to make sure all of the messaging is unified and they will send out a press release in mid November. But here is a quick rundown of the City’s plans.

  • Old Town Holiday Stroll: The Old Town Holiday Stroll will be on December 2 from 5-9 p.m. The event will take place throughout Old Town. The kick-off to the holiday season will include local performers, pedestrian friendly shopping, and free admission to some of the area museums. At 6:15 p.m. there will a Lighting Ceremony at Plaza Don Luis.

    • The Mayor Tim Keller will be there and so will Steve Stucker, the news etc. So the tree lighting event will be similar to past years.

  • Holiday Season in Old Town: December 2nd will signify the beginning of the holiday season in Old Town with entertainment and shopping all month long. We will have performers in the Gazebo throughout the month as well as some new surprises that will be revealed that evening.

  • December Performance Schedule: Once confirmed, the December performance schedule will be on the website (also on the www.albuquerqueoldtown.com website) along with event and partner information.

Surprises: There will be some additional things that the city is planning which will be revealed during the Old Town Shop & Stroll. This is something new that the City is trying this year and they are very excited. With that said, there will be no public announcement until AFTER the shop and stroll. The goal of these “surprises” is to continue to bring traffic into Old Town.
