Saturday (29.10) -  It's was all a dream, DJ Stean spinning records on hip-hop Halloween!  What else can we say? 19:00 - 22:00.

It was my distinct pleasure and quite an honor to co-host the Black Forest Bar Cup 2022 in Offenburg at Haus Zauberflöte with my friend Willi Schoellmann. We were joined by an expert panel of judges to determine who could best encapsulate the Black Forest in a cocktail glass and explain why it all made sense. And to me, that's one of the special parts of this competition in that if you're a good enough storyteller, pretty much anything goes despite the seemingly constricting theme. But having said that, with something like 20,000 distillers in the Black Forest, it's not thaaaat constricting. But what's my point? My point is the winner was Karlsruhe's own Daniel Grammer, bar manager at The Door - Liquid Kitchen & Highballs! And that's all the more impressive given the eleven contestants were drawn from bars all over Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the UK. As Karlsruhe's only participating bartender, Daniel makes all of us who call this our home very proud!

As we all know, times are tough - all this money spent on energy and inflation in general, court costs and legal fees for all of those ill-advised misadventures, the multitude of streaming services, it just never seems to end!
