Our Information and Advice Team (part of the new 'Together for Sutton' partnership) helps you navigate the various forms of support available. Our support and social groups are flexible: online, in person, or blended - so you can join sessions online and at SCC!

Support Groups & Events
We run free Support Groups, Activities and Events for Adult Carers at SCC and online.  Please note that activities are subject to change, so please check the website here and social media for updates.  For more information, log-in details, or to RSVP for a group, please email or call 020 8296 5611 Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm or Tuesdays until 8pm
Regular Groups

Carer Relaxation Group (Contact - Naomi)

Join our weekly session for relaxation techniques, followed by tea and a chat.

Every Monday

Dementia Carers Peer Support Group (Facilitator - Gary)

Join other Dementia Carers for talk, support and sharing.

Every Tuesday:
  • November 1st and 8th from 11-12pm Online
  • 15th - 11-12pm In person
  • 22nd - 6:30-7:30pm Online
  • 29th - 11-12pm Online

'Carers Connect' Social 
(Facilitator - Nick)
Take a break from your caring role to socialise with other Carers in an informal space. Alternative fortnights online and in person at Sutton Carers Centre with 'Coffee, Craft & Chat' sessions.
Specials are 'blended' so you can attend in person or online!

Every Thursday 11-12pm
  • Nov 3rd - Special 'Tax, Care, and the New Guy' (blended session)
  • 10th - Online

  • 24th - Carers Rights Day Wellbeing Special (blended session)

Parent Carer Peer Support Group (Facilitator - Corinne)

We offer three groups to give and receive support, share information, experiences and gain advice.

Wednesday 2nd from 10-11:30am (In person)
For parents of older teenagers/adults who have extra needs (including autism, mental health or physical health needs)

Tuesday 8th from 6:30-7:30pm (Online) 
Evening support group for parent/carers of children/teenagers who have extra needs

Wednesday 16th from 10-11.30am (In person)
For parents of children who have ADHD/autism/other extra needs. A case worker from SIASS is available at many meetings.

Debt & Cost of Living Drop-In 
(Facilitator - Nick)
For debt, benefit, employment, consumer, pension advice or energy issues.  If you can't make it, please let us know and our Citizens Advice Sutton Debt Advisor will give you a call!

Saturday Session
If it's easier to speak outside the usual Monday to Friday hours, we are open for phone, video calls and emails on the second Saturday each month.

This group is for Carers who are supporting a friend or family member who is experiencing a mental health condition.

This is a blended session so you can attend online or in-person.

Learning Disabilities Support Group (Contact - Karen)
For Carers of adults who have learning disabilities

Tuesday 22nd from 10am-12.30pm

Complex Needs Peer Support Group (Facilitator - Naomi)
The group is for adult Carers of adults who have a 'personality disorder'. It is facilitated jointly between Carers Support Merton and Sutton Carers Centre and runs every six weeks online via Zoom.

SW London Mental Health Carers’ Forum
Monday Oct 31st 4-5.30pm via Zoom 
Carer-led engagement forum for people supporting someone who has a mental illness.  Hear all the latest news and views affecting Carers in SW London and have your voice heard. 
With guest speakers (World Mental Health Day special) Dr Claire Warrington - Women and suicide: the dangers of social isolation & Dr Sharon Mallon - An exploration of the dynamics of suicide among women.

Carers Vaccination and Wellbeing Event @ SCC
Please join us for this early Carers Rights Day event focusing on Carer physical health and wellbeing. 

Call us on 020 8296 5611 or email in advance to book an appointment for:
  • 1st, 2nd or booster Covid vaccines, flu jabs (or both) - for you and/or your family members, including Young Carers age 16+
  • Private check-ups with a Nurse for any questions, worries, or concerns
  • Information and Advice from the SCC team
  • Refreshments to eat at the Centre or take home
November 24th is Carers Rights Day! 11-12pm - Carers Connect Wellbeing Special Book a place and join our Wellbeing Navigator Kathryn who will be talking to us about wellbeing resources and sharing tips.  RSVP to let us know if you'd like to join online or at Sutton Carers Centre.  Throughout the day - You can also join us at the Safeguarding Adults Awareness Events at Sutton Central Library.  This is always a really useful event with some great talks - click timetable here. We are also supporting the Preparing for Adulthood Event for young people with SEN (aged 14-25) at the Sutton Life Centre.
Sutton Parent Carers Forum offers Parent Carers advice, services and a voice.  Check out their Calendar for upcoming events.

Cost of Living
NEW! Debt Advice Drop-In
Come along to Sutton Carers Centre any Friday from 10am-1pm for advice if you are:
  • Struggling to pay bills
  • Worried about debts
  • Facing increased rent/utility bills
  • In need of debt, benefit, employment, consumer, pension or energy advice

ALL Sutton libraries will be warm and welcoming spaces this autumn/winter for people struggling to stay warm at home.  Volunteers will also be on site at the following locations to assist people to seek help and support:

Low-income Pensioner Households 
may be entitled to benefits like 
Pension Credit, which can be a gateway to other help.

benefit check on 020 8296 5611.

'Money Helper' joins up money and pensions guidance, to make it quicker and easier to find the right help, with lots of money-related information, including a Budget Planner that you may find helpful in these difficult financial times

Support available to help with your utility bills

If you’re struggling with energy bills, you might be able to get a government grant of up to £25,000 for work to make your home more energy-efficient.  Grants are available for households with an annual income of less than £30,000, living in cold homes - particularly suited for homes with electric heating.  To see if you are eligible and to apply, please click here or phone 0808 196 8255.

If you would like individual support with your energy bills, Sutton Council has a free 'Sutton Healthy Homes Service' run by Thinking Works who can advise on energy & water bills and check on eligibility for discounts and grants.

We are running an early Carers Rights Day special Health Event so that you and your family can book vaccinations, see a Nurse for private check-ups and enjoy refreshments at SCC on November 15th 4-7pm.
 

Safe Space Vaccinations at Sutton Women's Centre

Want to get your flu and Covid jabs somewhere you feel safe this autumn? 
SWC is a women-only venue, offering appointments from 2-5pm on Tuesday 15th November. To help you safeguard your health this winter, book a single jab or both at SWC, Palmerston Road, Sutton.  Call 020 8661 1991 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
