Highlights of the Month

Annual Report 2021-22

As the pandemic continued to rage through the world, 2021-22 was another unpredictable year for us at PSD. Yet, with support from our team members, partners and community stakeholders, we were able to continue to deliver our programs, remain engaged with the sport for development community and get #BackToThePitch.

Partnership with Laureus Sport for Good

PSD has been commissioned by Laureus Sport for Good to conduct a scoping study on organizations across the world that are using skateboarding, dance or other innovative sports for development, as Laureus looks to invest in new, non-traditional sports for social impact.

Peer leaders attend UNIFY2022

Our peer leaders, who are supported through a scholarship in partnership with KickOff Solutions, attended a 3-day workshop, UNIFY2022, in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. UNIFY2022 was organized by KickOff Solutions to bring together the 50 young women across India from different organizations being supported by KickOff, to come together to meet, interact and learn from each other, while exchanging stories and sharing goals.

Other news this past month...

Bhubaneswar program participants attend FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup

A few of our young participants from different programs in Bhubaneswar got a chance to attend a FIFA under-17 Women’s World Cup match in the city. The unique exposure visit was enjoyed by all!

Moving forward with MeWeSports

In 2021, we formed a partnership with Sangath, an organization committed to improving mental health through comprehensive interventions, working together on the MeWeSports project, aimed at using sports-based interventions to prevent substance use in youth by improving mental health and well-being. After initial stages of research and community discussions, we are moving ahead with this project by preparing a toolkit to pilot the project with young people part of Forca Goa Foundation's programs in Goa.

In the media

Powered by the ITTF Foundation’s Dream Building Fund, our Community Table Tennis (CTT) program uses table tennis to teach soft and leadership skills, along with concepts of gender, stereotypes and violence. ITTF Foundation writes about our project and its impact so far.

10 October is marked as World Health Day. Our Project Officer Hariom Agarwal writes about sportspersons that have spoken out about their mental health struggles and raised awareness on mental wellbeing.
