I have happy news to share! I got a piano playing gig. A twice-a-week gig! I’m a very lucky gal. I’m at Sabrosa in Bay View (Just South of Humboldt Park) every Saturday and Sunday from 10am - 1pm. Until they throw me out. Ha! I’m having a blast. I get to play all my favorites - standards, show tunes, light classical, bossa nova's, schmaltzy oldies and lesser known gems I’ve been collecting for decades. I’m in heaven. Tom and I celebrated our 19th anniversary. I joined him for a magic show up in Iron Mountain, MI. We went a day early and had a romantic Italian dinner, and I took photos of the glorious fall colors while he worked. We also had another (lighter) dinner date in town that week and just kept it low key otherwise. It’s the quiet moments in life I love the most. I needed it this month.

To say it's been a hectic few weeks is an understatement. I have been planning for or organizing 4 events that fall within a week of each other. #1, Nov 4 - mini show at the ART*BAR. I created 12 new pieces of art. That was the easy one. #2, Nov 5 - Piano workshop for my students. I lost the venue a few days ago due to unforeseen circumstances. I'm still scrambling to find a replacement - hard to find a cheap hall for a band and 60 people on short notice, but I'll do it! #3, Nov 11 - Veterans in Focus photo exhibit at City Hall on VETERANS DAY! A week before images were due our print company of 5 years notified us of an equipment failure. Luckily, I found another printer that saved the day. Whew. #4, Nov 12 - Bay View Arts Guild 20 Year Reunion and Retrospective Party. Strictly for long time members by invitation only. I still need to create slideshows for the last two events. There are over 500 BVAG images. I'm not crazy, that one is getting dumped on a flash drive. More than once I thought I might lose my mind. Poor Tom learned when to keep his distance and pitched in doing most of my household chores. Bless that man.

What a world. Iranian women are rising up against injustices they have endured for decades. And are risking their lives to do it. I am in awe and amazed by their courage and determination. And the men that stand with them.
And then there’s Trump. Now being investigated for: insurrection, criminal conspiracy, stealing (selling?) government files, tax evasion, rape, obstruction of justice, probable witness tampering and fraud.

VOTE BLUE if you support: social security benefits, medicare for all, mental health care, women's rights - to make their own healthcare decisions and equal pay, LGBTQ rights, marriage equality, workers rights - living wages & strong unions, restoring the Voters Right Act and protecting election results, quality education - loan forgiveness, teaching truth and age appropriate sex ed, affordable childcare, immigration reform and a path to citizenship for Dreamers, demilitarizing (not defunding) police, combating the existential threat of climate change with development of green energy (jobs!) and weaning off fossil fuels, environmental protection, sensible gun laws - banning automatic weapons and high capacity magazines, universal background checks and red flag laws, regulating Wall Street, taxing corporations and the rich, improving public and mass transit, creating transparency in government, banning corporate political actions donations and lobbyist donations, separation of church and state. Republicans oppose every one of these issues!
The GOP uses inflation and the economy as their rally cry. Yes, it is at a 40 year high. Not by coincidence, huge corporations are recording profits at a 50 year high. Don't be fooled, inflation is a global phenomenon exacerbated by the pandemic, lingering supply chain issues, and the war in Ukraine - where they are still fighting a madman just so they can exist. Republicans have ZERO plans to fix the problem - but they sure want you to blame Biden.
The world is scary enough. Don't fall into that trap. Don't fall for the big lie.
Choose Reason Over Treason.
