Stunning Lambton Estate XC for Team Blyth!
Rain and clarty conditions greeted our young athletes at the Lambton Estate Harrier League XC on Saturday, and the squad delivered landmark performances.

Our U13 Boys team were in the form of their life, as they picked up what may be the clubs best ever junior team result. Dexter Heatley was inspired on his Harrier League debut for the club, finishing 2nd. Frankie Foster ran from the fast pack, and recorded one of the quickest times overall, whilst George took 12th and Jamie 30th to cap a wonderful team performance. We finished equal first, tied on points with Blaydon.

Our U15 boys were also in action, with Luke and James having strong runs, whilst our sole U15 girl Niamh ran from the fast pack for the first time in a fully committed run.

It was also a fine weekend at parkruns, with William Hall scoring a new PB with a fine run at Blyth Links over the 5km distance. Elliot Summers scored a PB as he finished 6th at Whitley Bay, with Jack in the top 50. At South Beach, Frankie led home a Blyth 1-2-3 from Luke and Richard Gormley, with Oliver 5th and Grace 31st.

Fantastic results from all!

MASSIVE PLEA FOR HELP FROM OUR PARENTS & FAMILY MEMBERS
Athletics can only run thanks to the support of volunteers. One thing we are desperately short of is FIELD OFFICIALS. These are volunteers who can help run field events at T&F comps, in particular the NEYDL. As a participating club, we are required by the rules to provided qualified officials at NEYDL events, something we have struggled to do last year. This year, if we are unable to fulfill our obligation to provide officials, we will not only lose points, but also we will be limited in the numbers of athletes we can enter into field events. This is something that we cannot allow to happen.

If you wish to consider starting on the officiating  journey, then please know that you will have the full support of the club and all fees will be paid in full by the club. Officials receive expenses, and have opportunities to progress if the ambition is there. Officials from Blyth have recently been in action at World-Class Diamond League events, and will testify that it is the most rewarding experience.
