Dear <<First Name>>

Important Message from CUOSC

Incidents at recent United games have led to FA-triggered investigations. The nature of these incidents and the circumstances are still being investigated but they could have serious repercussions for the club.

As a responsible fan group promoting good behaviour at games, CUOSC condemns any actions by fans to throw any kind of missile or damage property. Incidents of this nature are very serious and can adversely affect the club's chances of success on the pitch.

Carlisle United are sadly not immune to this type of behaviour even though the vast majority of our supporters are well behaved and indeed, a credit to the club. This is, as it always has been, a case of a tiny minority damaging the club's reputation.

CUOSC wants to remind everyone who supports this great football club that their positive, loud and enthusiastic support is what is needed in a season which promises so much, not the other type of negative behaviour that has the capacity to spoil all the hard work that Paul Simpson and his team, the management of the club and the commercial staff are putting in.

Let's not forget how much the fans have helped with the big improvement since Simmo returned. Your positive backing from the terraces is needed more than ever.

CUOSC Column - October 27 2022

The Blues will need to dig deep on Saturday when they travel to Tranmere hoping to prevent a run of three successive league defeats.

After climbing into the play-off places, they must feel the world has suddenly turned against them as a sequence of one defeat in 13 games came to a crushing end.

Defeats at the hands of Leyton Orient and Stockport this week were both hard to take.

On Tuesday at Stockport, it looked like having defender Paul Huntingdon ruled out was one injury too far. The match showed just how important his experience is to the team.

The Blues have been plagued by injuries all season but have bravely battled on regardless. It sometimes seems like we have a full team on the sidelines.

Special mention must go to the 1116 Blues fans who made it to Edgeley Park despite the game being available on iFollow.

It didn’t help having played most of Saturday’s home match against Orient with only 10 men following striker Ryan Edmondson’s sending off.

It is not often the Blues are applauded off Brunton Park after a defeat but they gave everything for the cause and deserved at least a draw.

The match was shrouded in controversy after some strange decisions by the referee and, to make matters worse, the Blues have been forced to launch an investigation after some coins were allegedly thrown at the Orient coaching staff.

Orient boss Richie Wellens didn’t help at the final whistle when he spent at least one minute trying to wind up fans rather than celebrating with his players.

Still, that’s no excuse for coin throwing. The club are appealing for anyone who has information about the incident to email media@carlisleunited.co.uk

We know 99.9% of Blues fans are well behaved but a few idiots risk spoiling things for everyone.

The CUOSC directors held one of our regular board meetings last week. You can read the minutes from the meeting on our website at www.cuosc.org.uk

The potential restructuring of CUOSC was again discussed and we will be trying to make progress on some of the ideas over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, our new online membership platform is now live on the website.  This should streamline and simplify the renewal and joining process.

It costs £10 for adults for one year and £5 for seniors and under-18s. Members get a weekly email briefing on Blues’ affairs and are entitled to 10% discount in the club shop.

Joining will also allow you to air your views on the Blues at our next members’ meeting which will be held before Christmas.

Latest from Brunton Park

United again showed their character on Merseyside yesterday when they ended a run of two straight league defeats at Tranmere Rovers and bounced straight back into the play-off places.

The 2-0 victory must rank as one of the best performances under Paul Simpson since his return to Brunton Park in February.

The match could not have started better for the visitors when they scored with their first attack on just 44 seconds. Callum Guy's astute long pass picked out Jack Stretton in space down the right channel. His first time cross was perfectly placed for the onrushing Kristian Dennis to grab his 9th goal in all competitions this season with a sliding finish.

United dominated much of the first half with some positive forward play but they could not add to their lead. Early in the second half however they did get breathing space. A free kick into the box looking for Stretton saw the forward pushed to the ground and a penalty was awarded, Dennis obliged with a classy finish to double his tally for the day and hit 10 goals for the campaign.

United climbed into 7th place with the victory as the battle for play-off places intensifies.
