Could you explain more about your function at Lufthansa?
I currently work as commercial manager for the Western and Central region of Africa for Lufthansa Cargo, where I started in 2018. This involves support on pricing, reporting, and marketing inclusive station visits, for which I regularly travel to Western and Central Africa. At Lufthansa Cargo, regions are divided into subregions, I work in the subregion Dakar, but our office is based in Brussels.
What is your background? How did you end up in this position?
I studied Tourism and started after my studies at Aviapartner at the passenger-side. After a few years, I came to the cargo-side, which interested me more. After my experience at the handling agent side, I switched to the agent’s side. About 12 years ago I started working at Brussels Airlines Cargo
You also teach at Thomas More, how did you start here?
During my education, I had a teacher who gave the course ‘Aviation’, and he knew many people at Brussels Airport. This interested me a lot, and that’s when I first had the idea of being a teacher. I thought: If I reach that age, I want to share my knowledge and experience with others. Thanks to an acquaintance I was able to start at Thomas More. Although I love teaching, it is not something I want to do full-time. On top of that, I appreciate my job at Lufthansa Cargo, and I am not ready to give that up. The balance I have now is perfect for me.
