NEW from the OPD

Take part in a Peer Mentoring Group, organized by the OPD 🔴🔵
Groups meet Feb 2023 - May 2023 | Apply to be a Peer Mentor Group Facilitator by December 4, 2022 | Read more about the Peer Mentoring Program
Peer mentor groups are groups of 4 - 8 graduate students and postdocs, organized around a shared interest or goal. Members of the group can receive many benefits from being part of a peer mentor group, like giving and receiving support through challenges and expanding their professional and social circle by meeting students and postdocs from other programs/departments. The OPD is organizing peer mentor groups in Spring 2023. Graduate students and postdocs in the Medical School can be involved in a peer mentor group as a facilitator or a participant. Groups will meet at least once per month from February  - May 2023 (at least 4 meetings), and receive a budget of $100 per participant to spend on group activities during this time period. More details about each of these roles is below, and additional details are in this program description.
  • Group Facilitators: Responsible for attending facilitator training (2 hours), administrative organization of the groups, facilitating meetings, and choosing the group topic (either a Career Exploration Group, for which the OPD will provide discussion materials; or a topic of your choosing, such as a shared identity, interest, or goal). Group facilitators will receive a Facilitator Development Award of $400 for their selection to participate in facilitator training, which is a great opportunity to develop your leadership and communication skills! The call for facilitators is open now and closes December 4, 2022.
  • Group Participants: Responsible for attending and participating in group meetings. Participants can sign up for a group during the call for participants (which will be open from December 12, 2022 - January 2, 2023), and will receive a notification of their group status from the Office of Professional Development by January 10.
