Hello Cog Crew,

We had a great time seeing y'all for the modified employee appreciation recently. A hearty bunch of us showed up for drainage work on Alpine and who knew that bowling would be such a hit?  We appreciate all of you and look forward to spending more time with you over the winter and next year.

The 2022 season is wrapping up and we're already planning for next year. Our 2023 calendar is coming together, folks are booking and we're already checking in with y'all about work opportunities!

Please take a few minutes to read this newsletter as it contains important information for 2023, including a notification about Paid Leave Oregon, and current operations in Oakridge (spoiler: trails are prime, go ride).

The office is staffed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through the winter, stop by to say hello or ask questions about next year.

Prep for the 2023 Season

Paid Leave Oregon

Beginning January 1, 2023, both employees and employers are required to pay into the new Paid Leave Oregon program (see summary below). Small businesses who's average quarterly payroll is 25 employees, like Cog Wild, are eligible to get support for this program through the state. This means we will make every effort to assign work to those who are available 2+ days a week from April through October to maintain an average of 25 or fewer employees.

So, what are your thoughts regarding employment with Cog Wild in 2023?

Intent to Return:

Please complete this intent to return form by December 1. The information you share with us will inform our staffing decisions for 2023.

Save the date for 2023 Trainings:

  • April 8: Cog Wild All Employee Training in Bend
  • April 11: CJC Spring Program Training for coaches

Look at that impressive drainage work! Or were you distracted by the matching orange hats?

Oakridge Operations Extend into Winter

Good news! Our request for winter operations in Oakridge has been approved. We're now permitted to operate year round in dry conditions like the long high pressure systems we tend to get mid winter and our current environmental conditions. When we sign our next permit we'll also be allowed to guide snowshoe and / or nordic tours during the winter. We'll be working on these activities over the winter and will pilot winter ops beginning in March, 2023.

Operations are currently live in Oakridge with shuttles going on the weekends and by demand midweek. Use your remaining passes, take a friend and go for a ride. The trails are in great shape and the fall color is still glowing.

Opportunity for trail work:
ATCA & MBO are hosting another drainage work party for Alpine this Sunday, 11/20. Meet at the Portal Park/ Office Covered Bridge at 9AM ready to work. Food and beverages provided along with the important stuff like tools and hard hats. The Stryker Family will be there, join us.
