Shifting to Gratitude

Wakanda Forever, friends! Last Sunday, 23 of us went to see the Marvel film, Black Panther 2! It was a wonderful outing. We look forward to doing an event like this at least once a quarter. If you have ideas or would like to plan the next one, send me an email and we'll get started!

The holidays are upon us. This is a very special time of year. Many of you will be spending these sacred and holy days with your families. Others of you might be missing family this year. While some of us celebrate, let us think about those among us who are grieving, who are experiencing loneliness, and who might be unable to participate in festivities for a number of reasons.

We are God's beloved community. Ask someone what they're doing for the holidays. Offer to take them out for lunch, coffee, or invite them to dinner. Let none of us be an island, especially during this time of year. We are each other's people.

This Sunday, I will talk about gratitude as we lean into a week (and hopefully a season) of giving thanks.

Donation Requests
*For canned items, pop tops are preferrable

Canned Tuna, Canned Sardines, Spam. Canned Chicken, Dried or Canned Beans. Nut butters, Nuts and Seeds (no trail mix or combination bags due to allergies), Commercial Jerky, Granola and Protein Bars, Cold Cuts (only bring the day of).

Additional Volunteer Requests

Pantry Organizer (2-4 hours Midweek once a month; Coordinate with Church Office)
Community Organizer (advertising in SW and SE, securing partnerships)

Community Caroling at the Duck Pond
Location: I Street SW and 6th Street SW
Join us as we usher in the Christmas season with community caroling at the Duck Pond, led by our very own Deacon Jonathan J Holley. Sheet music will be provided. You can just come and listen or single along. There will be activities for kids and adults, free hot chocolate, and a chance to take a photo with SW Santa!

Annual Christmas Music Service
This service will be full of good music, lessons from the Advent season, and a short homily from Rev. Mia. We invite you to celebrate the holiday with us on this day.

December 25, 2022 | 10 AM VIRTUAL
Christmas Morning Mingle and Virtual Worship Service
We have made the decision to do a pre-recorded virtual Christmas service this year. Rev. Mia will be at the church on Christmas morning from 10-11 AM to share a word, coffee, and refreshments with anyone who wishes to stop by in-person and online via zoom. More details coming soon.
