California Update
Funding Opportunity New Construction and Major Renovation Grant 
 
Center-based and home-based child care providers in California now have the opportunity to apply for a grant to cover the costs of new construction and major renovations of their facilities to increase their capacity!

The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) released the Infrastructure Grant Program: New Construction and Major Renovation Grant (CDSS IGP-NCMR) Request for Applications (RFA) last Tuesday. Detailed information about the use of funds, eligibility, criteria for funding, and much more is available in the RFA, which is published in Chinese, English, and Spanish. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2023.

Build Housing with Care Act Supports Solutions to Child Care and Housing Crises

On December 1, Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR) plans to introduce a new bill, the Build Housing With Care Act of 2022, that encourages the development of child care programs co-located with affordable housing. This innovative solution prioritizes family access to two vital necessities that are out of reach for far too many families across the country.
