The digital gender divide, described as the gap in internet and tech accessibility, is still persistent in web3. It's no secret that only 6% crypto wallet holders are women. In gaming, 27.6% of Fortnite players are also women.
It was exciting to host Cindy Gallop, world famous advertising genius and current CEO of MakeLoveNotPorn, to discuss how web3 can and must change the web2 status quo. In particular, we debated about and delved into:

💡 Why the metaverse does not exist?
"How can I enter the metaverse?" According to Cindy Gallop and many other practical web3 experts, you cannot, simply because the metaverse does not exist. More specifically, the metaverse as people imagine it does not exist yet. Sure, we have huge virtual realities like Horizon Worlds or 3D video games like Roblox, but we are still limited.
The most basic component missing from a true metaverse is interoperability, the capacity for applications across different chains to interact with each other. Moreover, the current platforms are not persistent, nor blockchain based, and they definitely cannot host simultaneously millions of users. Final point, and perhaps the major one, the metaverse cannot rely on one individual company's efforts.
💡 Mergers and Acquisition
Companies, associations, and individuals must come together to build an open metaverse. We are seeing some movement in the form of mergers and acqusitions (M&A). In addition to more famous cases - like eBay and the NFT marketplace KnownOrigin, the acquisition of Crypto Punks by Yuga Labs or even Nike acquiring RTFKT - less known M&As are happening every week in the Web3 world. Take for instance Meta Angels joining HUG, the former an NFT membership community based on accessibility, the latter a web3 reality based on diversity and inclusion - in true web3 spirit.
