Wivenhoe Park has
retained its place as one of the UK's most popular green spaces for the fifth year running in the Green Flag People's Choice Awards 2022. It is the only university campus to receive this honour.

Taking part in Strike Action?
UCU has confirmed that there will be three days of industrial action in relation to the New JNCHES 2022-23 pay award and USS disputes on Thursday 24, Friday 25 and Wednesday 30 November.

The VCs annual all-staff briefing on 30 November has been cancelled as it coincides with a period of industrial action. We're trying to find another date to make sure as many of you as possible are able to attend and hear about the University’s strategic direction and the challenges ahead.

Remembering Dr Michael Sommerlad
Dr Michael Sommerlad, who has died at the age of 90, was instrumental in the development of our Albert Sloman Library. Michael developed many relationships which led directly to significant donations to our Special Collections.

Writing in The Conversation, Nicolas Forsans of Essex Business School, says that Brazil's newly elected president, Lula da Silva, could be the key to the country's success, but he has inherited massive economic and environmental problems which will need to be addressed.

Give your views on women's safety at night 
Researchers from Essex Business School have launched a survey, in collaboration with Essex County Council, to find out what can be done to improve night-time safety in the county. The online survey takes five to ten minutes to complete, and closes on Sunday 18 December.

get in touch and tell their stories of finding biological relatives through social media or genetic testing for a project to better understand these seldom spoken-about experiences.
