Click on icons for more detail. Addresses listed are rounded to the hundred block. For a complete list of case reports, visit olympiawa.gov/p2c

Notable Trends

  • Seven auto thefts reported in the last two weeks. Two are open investigations. One was recovered occupied by the Kent Police Department, and they arrested a suspect. Another was recovered in Olympia. Two older trucks, a 2005 Toyota Sienna, 2020 Subaru Forrester and 2005 Dodge Dakota were all targeted.
  • One arson reported after a patient set a fire in their hospital room bathroom.
  • Officers arrested one suspect for commercial burglary. An alarm activated at a business and two suspects fled through a broken door when officers arrived. A K9 track found one suspect who was trying to hide under a car. Three other burglaries were reported. One is still an open investigation, and two cases were from storage units.
  • Three robberies reported over the last two weeks. In one, the suspect pushed an employee multiple times while stealing clothing. In another, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim, who was holding his bike, and said the bike was his. The victim fled, leaving the bike. In the last case, three men assaulted the victim and stole money from him. The victim thought one of the suspects knew him.
  • Four package thefts and a mail theft reported. A neighborhood also had their mailboxes broken into. We’re hitting the time of year where we see an increase in package and mail theft. Don’t forget to track your packages and check your mail daily. Some of the packages were taken shortly after delivery. We’ll be partnering with United States Postal Inspection Service again this season on a package theft emphasis.
  • Officers arrested a suspect in a vehicle prowl case after a victim saw the suspect breaking into his car on camera. They located him and arrested him near the scene. Some of the property stolen in the 26 prowls reported were one firearm, jackets, backpacks, wallets, and electronics.

Other Items

  • Save the dates! Holiday Light Parades are back with the first one on Dec. 1 through the southeast neighborhoods, followed by Dec. 7 in West Olympia and Dec. 13 through the northeast and South Capitol neighborhoods. All parades start at 6 p.m. We’ll be sharing routes on our Instagram and Twitter accounts, and you can get more info on the City’s Facebook page.
  • In this week’s photo, the Green Bay Police Behavior Health Unit visited to check out our Crisis Response Unit and get ideas for implementing alternative co-response programs in their community.
  • If you plan to do some Black Friday shopping, remember a few safety tips while you're out. Don't over burden yourself with packages when returning to your car, bring a friend to help carry the load. Have your keys ready to access your car quickly. Don't leave shopping bags in your car, or if you must, make sure they are out of sight. Stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
  • No update again next week as we’ll be closed for Thanksgiving. I’ll double up the following week. I hope you all have a safe and happy holiday with family and friends.
