We’d like to share an exciting no-cost opportunity to develop local talent in Kane County for participants eager to grow their careers in Hospitality, Tourism, and Computer Technology. Do you have employees whose potential you’d like to develop? Do you know others that are looking for a new career?

Kanab Area Chamber of Commerce is part of the Southern Utah Region Coalition of Chambers (SURCC), which initiated a project to address the challenges of finding qualified and productive employees. This effort included the Utah Dept. of Workforce Services, several local offices of tourism, and Southern Utah University.

SURCC conducted a study and created a plan to help businesses in the tourism, hospitality, and tech fields develop, recruit, and retain employees. The program has received funding from the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity and Utah System of Higher Education to help train individuals in the Five County Region of southwestern Utah.

Virtual “Learn and Work” programs are available at NO COST to Utah residents looking to explore a career, increase earning potential or return to work. Southern Utah University is offering two new no-cost Workplace Ready career pathway programs designed to fill immediate needs of Utah’s workforce. Both programs lead learners into one of two high-demand career pathways: tourism and hospitality or computer technology.
