PTA Announcements

Last NU Football Parking - Nov 26th

If you're in town over Thanksgiving, please consider volunteering for the LAST Northwestern football home game! The game, versus Illinois, will be on Saturday, November 26th but the time is still TBD.
Responsibilities are easy - show up at the Kingsley parking lot 2 hours before kick-off, collect money, and direct cars to parking spots in the lot. That's it! There is no need to return after the game, so once the lot is full or the game starts you are done. Sign up to help here.

Winter Extracurricular Electives Now Open

Registration is now open for Winter after-school electives. Learn about available programs and sign up here!

The Winter session runs from December 5th through March 10th. Registration closes on December 9th.  To receive a scholarship, complete this form before 5pm on November 30, 2022.

As a reminder, all enrollments require a RAS account to sign up. To do so, visit the Right at School website -> click on Find Your School -> District & School -> Electives at the top of the page. For additional support, call 855-287-2466, email or reach out to Amber Woodson directly.

December Volunteer Opportunity!

Books & Breakfast (B&B) is a local nonprofit that provides a healthy morning meal and homework help to Evanston elementary students in need of additional support. Kingsley B&B is looking for substitute volunteers during December while our regular Northwestern student tutors are on winter break.  From December 5th to December 16th, we are in need of additional volunteers each morning. Volunteer tutors help with homework or spend time reading with students. No experience necessary! We can train you on the spot.

Kingsley Books & Breakfast runs from 8:00 a.m. - 8:50 a.m. each school day in the Multipurpose room connected to the Library.  Our goal is to help students start their day physically, emotionally, and academically ready for learning. We would love for you to join us! Please sign up at this link to pick a morning slot. Please contact Precious Kinzer at preciousk@booksbreakfast.org if you need more information.

Kingsley Spiritwear Store

Kingsley has partnered with 1st Place Spiritwear to have an on-demand, online spiritwear store available all year round. We’ll earn back 10% of sales for the PTA, so you can feel good knowing that your purchase will support the Kingsley community.  Order today
Note: All students will receive a free Kingsley t-shirt this Spring (students receive free t-shirts every other year). If you have a student new to Kingsley, please email kingsleycometspta@gmail.com as we have lots of extra t-shirts from previous years.

Open PTA Volunteer Positions

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to help so far. The PTA still has a few critical roles that still need to be filled for this year. For a complete list and to sign-up, see here. If you have any questions or want more information contact erinwade.pta@gmail.com or sarah.weidaw.pta@gmail.com.

Bulletin Board Coordinator(s)

Mr. Davis has asked us to manage several of the school bulletin boards. We have ideas and a timeline but need someone to execute designs. Each bulletin board should take approximately 1 hour. Volunteer to do it once or on a regular basis. Have ideas or topics for a bulletin board? Please let us know!

Lunch Help Needed

Join us at the Kingsley Comet Cafe to help children open food items, encourage them to eat, help them clean up afterward (including recycling and composting waste), and be on hand during recess (if you want). Volunteering for lunch duty is a great way to meet the other children in your Comet's grade as well as other parents volunteering with you. Sign up in advance, or stop by when you can (lunch and recess times listed in the link). Just be sure to register with the front office upon your arrival.

District 65 Beyond Diversity Seminar

District 65 is excited to host a community-based Beyond Diversity Seminar grounded in the ideals of anti-oppression and compassion. District 65 is deeply committed to racial and educational equity. As part of this commitment, all District 65 team members complete this transformative training experience. We are also offering a community-based session for D65 parents and caregivers!

The session is at no cost to D65 community members. Participants must be able to attend the entirety of both session dates to be fully registered.

Community input through live Q&A and a short survey will be collected and incorporated into decision-making.

Additionally, attendees will have an opportunity to discuss academic programming options for the 5th Ward School and receive an update on Phase 2 of District 65’s Student Assignments planning process.
