I've always had an interest in environmental science, and the idea of getting to study such unique ecosystems up close and personal really appealed to me. Though I love Virginia and I'll probably settle down here eventually, I want to take full advantage of my college years to experience everything I possibly can, and it can't get any more exciting than studying abroad on the other side of the globe! I think it will teach me a lot about myself, the environment, and what I want my future to look like, and I can't wait to go!

I was recently in the ensemble of the Mason Players and School of Theater's musical production of Head Over Heels, and thoroughly enjoyed performing onstage! The theater has always been an essential part of my life, so sharing the stage with extremely talented and passionate students once again was a wonderful experience. I chose Global Gateway Spain because I have never traveled to Europe, and the landscape and architecture immediately drew me in. I'm looking forward to enjoying this new chapter of my life halfway across the world and sharing wonderful new experiences, foods, and cultures with my friends.

It was important for me to enroll in the Global Gateway program as I wanted to be able to take advantage of the time I have as a freshman to experiment with the things I have around me, and to find a sense of direction to set me up for my success in the future. Additionally, I knew that the opportunity to study abroad will give me a wealth of knowledge that no textbook or assignment could ever conceptualize.
