Statement by President von der Leyen on the Outcome of COP27

20 November 2022

"I am pleased that COP27 has opened a new chapter on financing loss and damage, and laid the foundations for a new method for solidarity between those in need and those in a position to help.
We are rebuilding trust. This is crucial moving forward because there can be no lasting action against climate change without climate justice. The European Union is already the world's leading contributor of international climate finance, and I am satisfied that we confirmed our commitment to support the most vulnerable on our planet through a first contribution on loss and damage." -Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission

Building a World-Class Dutch Start-Up Ecosystem

A strategy to both increase the number of start-ups and facilitate their ability to scale can elevate the Netherlands to a global leader in the world of entrepreneurship ecosystems.

A robust entrepreneurship ecosystem has the potential to be among the fundamental drivers of a nation’s economy and a linchpin of its society. Dutch start-ups are already thriving in many ways, but countries such as the United Kingdom, Sweden, and the United States are more competitive along key metrics of start-up success.

The Netherlands has an opportunity to build a strategy that encourages the participation of a more diverse group of founders, which will lead to even more entrepreneurial activity than already today.

A Tribute to Those Fighting for Human Rights & Women's Rights

“In a number of countries, human rights defenders and journalists are subject to arbitrary detentions, kidnappings, disappearances, physical aggressions, judicial harassments, death threats and intimidations.
Some have paid the ultimate price for their commitment. I hope that these extraordinary and courageous people will inspire others to create a better, safer and more gender-equal society.”

From 30 November to 15 December 2022, the Swedish Embassy in The Hague, together with the Swedish Institute, shows a series of portraits of Human Rights Defenders. By sharing these portraits, Sweden shows its support to Human Rights Defenders everywhere.

Welcome to join the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Tech Table – Tech Finance/ VS Investment on November 29, 2022. In this session, we bring together experts and stakeholders to explore the dynamic evolvements in Venture Capital, Technology and the various ways companies can become investment ready or boost their innovation through tech investments.

Funding is essential for the growth of startups and scaleups. It is what makes them able to compete on a global stage. What are the bottlenecks and challenges when finding (the right) investors and trying to accelerate growth as a start-up or scale-up? Making the right investments and introducing the right technology is of the essence for any companies trying to stay innovative. With the ever-increasing ways of investing in technology and innovations, there is a larger need for companies to strategize their use of capital.
