Call for Art: 2023 Arts Walk Cover Artist
Each year, two artists are selected (one for each Arts Walk event) to have their artwork featured on the Arts Walk poster and in event related publications. These artists are commissioned by the City to create a new, original work of art for either the spring or fall Arts Walk event.
Selected artists each receive $750 to create a new work, and have been featured in multiple ways. Additional details including eligibility at the link below.
Call for Sculpture: 2023 Percival Plinth Project
The City of Olympia is seeking up to 18 loaned sculptures from Washington and Oregon state artists for temporary outdoor display on Percival Landing, a waterfront park at the southernmost end of the Puget Sound in view of the state capitol located in Olympia, WA. Selected artists receive a $1,000 honorarium for the one-year loan of their work and are eligible for consideration for the Peoples’ Prize purchase award of up to $10,000, where one sculpture is selected for purchase by public vote and added to the City’s public art collection.
All works are displayed on stainless steel pedestals and attached by artists via a connector plate provided by the City. Additional details including eligibility at the link below.

Dec. 9-10: Emerald City Music Presents San Francisco's Telegraph Quartet Performing Music by Florence Price, Grażyna Bacewicz, and Ravel
On Friday, December 9, 2022 at 8pm in Seattle at 415 Westlake (415 Westlake Avenue N) and Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 7:30pm in Olympia at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1601 North Street SE), Emerald City Music (ECM) presents Telegraph Quartet. The award-winning, San Francisco based group brings lively musicality and an energetic stage presence to Emerald City Music, showcased through a variety of works written in the first half of the 20th century.
Emerald City Music shines the spotlight on the award-winning Telegraph Quartet with two concerts featuring three vigorous string quartets: Florence Price’s Five Folksongs in Counterpoint, Grażyna Bacewicz’s String Quartet No. 4, and Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major. For the performance at 415 Westlake, audiences can enjoy ECM’s flagship “date-night experience,” which combines vibrant classical performance with an open bar, and a “wander-around” concert setting with no stage dividing the audience from the musicians. The second performance of the program in Olympia will be held at the intimate and acoustically resonant Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Harlequin remounts Aaron Lamb’s adaptation of A Christmas Carol with new sets and effects for 2022

"The Lost Salmon" - A Film by Shane Anderson
Pacific Rivers is proud and pleased to announce that the latest Shane Anderson/Pacific Rivers documentary film will soon be available for viewing. The documentary tells the story of why spring Chinook salmon are genetically unique from other Chinook runs and makes the compelling case that these fish are at serious risk of extinction along the entire Northwest coast.
The film will be aired on November 8 on KBTC Public TV in Washington and on November 9 on KCTS channel 9 in Seattle. It will also be shown on OPB during the November 30 pledge drive and will be available for streaming with a PBS passport.
Pacific Rivers is hoping to have local screening in the future-- we will keep you informed.

Asking for help: Ways to access community resources without shame
Maneras de acceder a los recursos de la comunidad sin Vergüenza
Cristian is a Chicano Advocate who first started as a volunteer with CIELO in 2016. With the hardships of the pandemic, he knew our community had a limited number of resources. In an effort to support the Latinx community, he took on the role of Community Navigator in May of 2021. Since then, he has been able to distribute over 500k funds. He is on a mission to help others access the resources they need without shame by sharing his story and authentic self. We will gather to listen to Cristian’s story, and move into small groups to reflect on moments from our own lives of asking for help. This event is produced in community partnership with CIELO, and promotes community, self-sufficiency, and leadership of Latinx folks in the South Sound.

Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia (SOGO) presents the Holiday Memories Brass Choir Holiday Show. The ever-popular 18-member Brass Choir, directed by Greg Allison, will put you in the holiday mood. Laughter and reflection abound in the programming. Eligible applicants must have costs associated with COVID-19 testing and safety monitoring required by either state and local governments, union contracts, or both. All eligible applicants will have reported annual gross receipts of greater than $5,000,000 in calendar year 2019.
